Job Description

Position Summary:
This position is responsible for determining the welding plan, building tooling as needed, setting-up equipment, welding according to specifications using a variety of welding processes, inspecting parts for proper tolerance and completing required documentation. 
Key Responsibilities:
1.   Working from blueprints, drawings and other relevant documentation, determine the scope of work to be done, material to be used and welding plan, including selecting the appropriate fixtures. 
2.   Build tooling as needed.  May need to cut and prepare materials to desired configuration.
3.   Set-up equipment and determine appropriate welding equipment settings necessary to perform operation.
4.   Weld according to specifications using a variety of welding processes. 
5.   Inspect, measure and monitor parts for proper tolerance on an ongoing basis throughout the operation.
6.   Complete required documentation for all jobs responsible for, including entering data into ERP system.
7.   Maintain a safe, clean and organized work environment, adhering to 5S principles.
8.   Other duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications:
  • A related welding certificate/diploma and two years relevant experience, OR, six years relevant experience. 
  • Proficient in metal inert gas (MIG) and tungsten inert gas (TIG) welding on aluminum and steel.
  • Ability to attain welding certifications.
  • Intermediate ability to read and interpret assembly drawings, specifications and weld symbols.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform set-ups.
  • Machine shop math skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and possess a sense of urgency.
  • Proficient PC skills in a Windows environment.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position;
  • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
Preferred Qualifications:      
  • Experience using material handling equipment, including hoists, chain / strap rigging.
  • Previous large part welding experience, including fabrication skills and mechanical ability.
  • Experience working with robots.
