Job Description

Arconic Fastening Systems (AFS) in Fullerton is seeking an apprentice to work in our Toolroom.

Performs all types of machining operations on a variety of materials including but not limited to steel, carbide and carbon to exacting tolerances.  Successful applicant will train to be a journeyman Tool room machinist while attending outside educational classes to meet the requirements of a journeyman Tool room machinist.
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Will learn to operate all standard Tool room equipment (Mills, lathes, grinders etc.);
  • Prepares machine parts and tooling as required;
  • Remove, replace and/or adjust machine parts for proper positioning;
  • Inspects parts to verify correct machine set-up and operation by using micrometers, gauges and measuring devices;
  • Plans set up and sequence of operation by studying work orders, part print, tool print or verbal instruction.
  • Sets up part in machine and selects proper compound and applicator.
  • Uses precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers and optical comparators) to check parts to assure conformance to specification.


Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
  • 1 year of in a manufacturing environment
  • Must have good mechanical aptitude with a strong math background
  • Candidate must be able to work 1st and/or 2nd shift as required.
  • Shift may change regularly due to training schedule and schooling requirements.
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States.  Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire.  Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status.  ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
