Job Description

Arconic Fastening Systems (AFS) is seeking a skilled Wire EDM machinist to work 2nd shift in our Tool Room Department in Fullerton, CA.

Summary
Performs all types of precision EDM (Electrical Discharge Machine) work in steel and carbide to exacting tolerance. Studies part prints and decides on correct procedures to obtain dimensions and forms of finished products. Programs and sets up parts on machines with proper power settings and depths.
 
Essential Duties
  • Program set up and operate Agie Wire EDM’s;
  • Set up using Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) and EROWA Quick change tooling;
  • Loads and edits programs on machines;
  • Performs all aspects of writing and creating programs using mechanics;
  • Reads blueprints and has knowledge to use micrometers, calipers, comparators, thread gauges, depth micrometers and dial indicators as needed;
  • Plans the set up and sequence of operations by studying work orders, part prints, engineering prints and verbal instructions;
  • Checks dimensions, finish material and nature of part to determine proper power setting and feed to hold specified tolerances and obtain required finish;
  • Correct and change computers’ programs according to the parts that are running and their dimensions;
  • Makes recommendations for alternate method to fabricate tools and parts.


Qualifications

Basic Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a Wire EDM machininst;
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position;
