Summary
Under limited direction, develop, standardize and design a wide variety of tools, fixtures and components, including forming tooling (Header and Press) and cutting tools to help achieve operational and productivity targets and objectives.
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but not limited to, the following: 
  • Draw preliminary sketches and prepares layout and detail drawings.  Modifies tool designs according to trial or production service data to improve tool life or performance;
  • Prepare drawings, change notices, specifications and inspection standards;
  • Work with engineering and manufacturing to identify problems with performance or tool life and recommends and implements solutions or enhancements.  Selects standard items for incorporation into tool design where possible;
  • Study specifications and confer with engineering and other functions, and shop personnel to resolve design problems related to material characteristics, dimensional tolerances, service requirements, manufacturing procedures, and cost of tools;
  • Apply mathematical formulas and standard tool engineering data to develop tool configuration.  Verify and enhance tool performance through layout, stress analysis and testing;
  • Develop and maintain design and drawing standards.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution;
  • Minimum of three (3) years of relatable manufacturing experience;
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position;
  • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution;
  • Minimum of five (5) years of manufacturing experience;
  • Experience with problem solving tools and techniques such as: 5-whys, Six Sigma, FMEA, Fishbone Diagram (Ishikawa), etc.;
  • Experience with General Machining, CNC Lathes, Centerless Grinding, Heading, Presses for Hot Forming (Forging), Thread Rolling, Tooling or Fixturing.
