Job Description

Essential Functions:
 
Manufacturing Engineer: responsible for the development/refining of manufacturing methods.  Maintains and updates of product and tool drawings and routing sheets.  Plans, justifies, and commissions production facilities.  Provides technical direction to manufacturing personnel. Tooling Engineer: responsible for the design, prototyping and debugging of blind fastener tooling. Supports testing, qualification and manufacturing implementation of new designs or derivatives of existing designs.
 
Specific Responsibilities Include:
  • Responsible for maintenance of material specifications, product drawings, routing sheets and manufacturing procedures.
  • Design and debugging of manufacturing processes and tooling for headers, rollers, drillers etc.
  • Continuous improvement of tooling and manufacturing methods.
  • Assist in reduction of set-up time.
  • Work hand in hand with production technicians to enhance manufacturing processes and troubleshoot issues.
  • Resource for technical guidance to manufacturing personnel.
  • Assist in determination of root cause of persistent problems.
  • Support Quality System Improvement.
  • Provides analysis and assists with capital equipment justifications.
  • Interfaces with other manufacturing departments to address and resolve engineering issues.
  • Development of tooling design concepts in response to requirements defined by product engineering and manufacturing.
  • Concept layouts on CAD.
  • Completes dimensional, metallurgical and functional analysis to predict tooling function and life.
  • Detail design of tooling components and assemblies.
  • Performs debugging of prototype or pre-production tooling.


Qualifications

Requirements:
  • Three (3) years’ experience in metalworking industry. 
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing processes and principles.
  • Experience in product and process failure analysis and an understanding of world class manufacturing techniques such as lean manufacturing, JIT, SPC, TQM, etc. 
  • Skilled in use of personal computers with emphasis on analytical and design software.
  • Proficient in CAD and various design drafting programs
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. 
  • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
     
    Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Metallurgical Engineering or related field. Equivalent experience may be substituted for degree.
  • Record of achievement in tooling design and testing. 
  • Understanding of blind product function.
  • Experience in high precision metal forming, product and process failure analysis.
  • Knowledge of fastener manufacturing.
