Job Description

Arconic Cleveland Operations, a forging facility serving the aerospace and automotive markets, is seeking a Thermal Area Supervisor for its plant located at 1600 Harvard Ave. Supervisors are the first level of authority in the workplace providing leadership, coaching and clear direction to ensure people are working safely, meeting customer demand, solving problems, eliminating waste, and meeting goals. The Thermal Area Supervisor is responsible for coaching, supervising, and training skilled craftspeople, apprentices and laborers in the repair and maintenance, temperature measurement, and instrument calibration of product heating and combustion systems

Under the direction of the Thermal Lead, this position is accountable for:
  • Providing leadership, direction, and motivation to people in the assigned area
  • Ensuring all Environmental, Health, & Safety policies are followed
  • Developing and implementing innovative maintenance techniques to achieve accountability objectives
  • Monitoring performance and implementing corrective actions to meet goals
  • Solving problems to the root cause to prevent a recurrence
  • Effectively communicating with others within and outside the work group
  • Effectively managing employee and labor relations including contract administration, grievance handling and day-to-day employee complaints/issues
  • Directing the implementation of Arconic Business System initiatives (lean manufacturing) including 5S, standardized work, work balance, product flow, and TPM improvements
  • Owning cost savings initiatives (degree of implementation).

Basic Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a supervisory role in a manufacturing environment
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in technical maintenance OR engineering
  • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's level degree in Engineering, Business, or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution.
  • Supervisory experience in unionized manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in combustion, product heating, temperature measurement and instrumentation calibration systems in the metals processing industry, familiarity with applicable safety and quality standards including but not limited to NFPA 86, AMS2750, AMS 2770 and AC7102 NADCAP
