Job Description

The Technical Standards Engineer (Metallurgy, Quality & Standards) is accountable for providing expert counsel and support services for technical standards / specifications, including development, revision, and review of new and existing standards for various products produced by Arconic.
The Corporate Quality organization is part of the Continuous Improvement organization and their charter is to: ensure effective implementation of quality systems across our businesses; utilize networks to leverage best practices and learning; develop solutions and establish the role of quality assurance in an ABS environment; report to senior management on the health of the system and areas of improvement; develop, revise, and deliver specifications; and be the customer advocate throughout our business.
  • Provide technical reviews, assessment, and communication to resource and business units on standards and  specifications.
  • Provide leadership to technical standards writing organizations such as ASTM, ASME, SAE, ISO, EN, and The Aluminum Association.
  • This includes serving on committees and subcommittees (with ability to serve as chair for these  committees), writing new or revising existing standards, and providing technical expertise.
  • Develop new specifications and review changes to existing product and process specifications.
  • Act as a technical resource for Arconic for the interpretations of industry standards and customer specifications.
  • Make technical assessments of manufacturing locations for compliance to technical standards.
  • Run global network in Technical area such as Mechanical Testing or Thermal Processing to share best practices, provide training, benchmark locations, and prevent non-compliance to standard requirements.
  • Administrate Arconic’s C-Alloy and E-Temper Internal Standard Systems.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Metallurgy or Material Science/Engineering from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of 7 years experience in aluminum, titanium, steel or nickel alloy manufacturing
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Broad technical expertise (i.e. technical knowledge related to variety of processes and products produced by Arconic).
  • Considerable personal skills are required to effectively win and hold the confidence of members of standards organizations, which include competitors and customers.
