Job Description

Primary Purpose of the Job
  • Technical Procurement Capital is responsible for assigned Projects in Capital Procurement Organization.
  • The overall goal is to execute Global Procurement strategies in close cooperation with the Capital Procurement Team, IPAM (International Projects and Asset Management) and the BUs in order to achieve best possible total cost of capital invests (CapEx), to reduce risks and to improve speed to market for the stakeholder BU.
Major Activities and Key Challenges:
  • Reports to Technical Procurement Capital Lead
  • Responsible for all assigned project spends and CapEx spends within the Global Capital Procurement function
  • Responsible for lifecycle of procured project/capital invest (front end to back end)
  • Works together with Project Procurement Lead to achieve shared goals and targets
  • Works together with BUs responsible (operations, engineering) to achieve shared goals and targets
  • Identifies and assesses Technical Procurement opportunities together with Capital Procurement Management Lead and Business Unit Technical Procurement Leads
  • Develops and executes cost savings strategies for defined and agreed opportunities by using state-of-the-art measures, including, but not limited to Designed-to-cost initiatives, Target costing, Product Re-engineering, Scope revisions, Benchmarking efforts, Material and Product substitution
  • Gets involved at stage gate FEL 0/1 (idea phase, data collection) to assess baselines for project/capital spend and supports development and improvement of business cases on cost side
  • Drives standardization strategies into Capital developments
  • Drives the “avoidance of single source situations” into the project development process.
  • Conducts market analysis on material, product and process innovations
  • Assesses make-or-buy business cases for select projects/capital spends
Major Customers
  • Inside GBS: Capital Procurement Team, , BU Procurement Leads, BU procurement teams, BU CapEx managers, Category Management, Regional/Country Procurement, SCM, GBS GSS, GBS IT
  • Outside GBS: BU plant managers (all regions), BU engineering teams
  • Outside Arconic: benchmarking contacts, supplier contacts

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in manufacturing or engineering.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience with international projects
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Economics, or Business from an accredited institution.
  • Experience with an engineering procurement function in a major manufacturing organization
  • Capital Project or Program Management experience
  • Knowledge of engineering and manufacturing operations, including shop floor experience
  • Knowledge of procurement/strategic sourcing processes.
  • Experience developing supplier technical and service capabilities.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams (engineering, procurement, commercial, etc.)
  • Ability to interpret data and develop strategic plans.
