Arconic Fastening Systems is seeking a Systems Engineer to monitor and maintain systems in a 24/7, highly-available, global production environment. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated with excellent communication skils, familiar with Microsoft operating systems (2008R2, 2012 and 2016), related software technologies, have a proven history of using administrative tools, and detail-oriented to ensure that configuration of a complex environment is rationalized for standardization. This employee will have a focus on repeatable and auditable processes to ensure proper controls are in place to provide a secure and well performing systems environment. This position is located in Fullerton, CA.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Day to day operations of assigned systems and or other shared systems
    • Communicate regularly with data center department and manager regarding operations metrics
    • Perform daily tasks in the areas of patch management, Antivirus, and system monitoring using system tools WSUS, SEP and Solar Winds
    • Determine opportunities for improvement of services in conjunction with data center personnel and manager including:
      • System tuning
      • Database tuning
      • Test and Development database refreshes
      • Applications upgrades
      • OS patches and security patches
  • Participate in deploying, maintaining and management of backup and recovery procedures and processes for Windows devices and VMware.
  • Deployment, support and management of global Windows Active Directory forests and domains, including DNS, OU, GPO and Account management.
  • Administration of virtual servers, and applications in the virtual environment, performing security and Windows version upgrades as necessary to remain in compliance, and resolving problems reported by users.
  • Deploy and manage automated system monitoring tools for proactive system maintenance and root cause assessment for interruptions.
  • Perform deployments, configuration, Windows and database systems administrations in production environment
  • Ensure uptime of the highest levels possible and in line with negotiated internal operations agreements.
  • Respond to and resolve help desk requests, providing assistance after hours as required.
  • User support as needed
  • Implement new systems and/or system upgrades as assigned
    • Participate in drafting of implementation plans
    • Execute implementation plans
    • Generate records to satisfy project management and change control requirements
  • Compliance
    • Participates in annual Arconic Self-Assessment Template (ASAT) for the data center
    • Draft procedures and work instructions in support of compliance goals.
    • Work with AFS IS colleagues to rationalize and reduce compliance performed locally in favor of centralized compliance activities that follow the systems hosted in our data center
  • Staying current on latest technologies in Cloud and Windows spaces and make recommendations to take advantage of new features or technologies.
  • Travel requirements: as required to AFS facilities in California and Arizona

  • Ability to prioritize and deliver competing projects with scarce resources, particularly where BU and GBS initiatives are competing for resources with locally-initiated projects.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited Institution
  • Minimum 4 years of Information Technology experience
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strongly prefer experience with infrastructure monitoring software (e.g. SolarWinds)
  • Strongly prefer experience with SQL Server Virtual Cluster Build and Administration
  • Strongly prefer experience with Anti-Virus Deployment and Management, i.e. Symantec Enterprise Protection
  • Strongly prefer experience with HP C7000/C3000 Enclosure/Chassis & HP Blade Server /Fabric Switching/Zones
  • Strongly prefer experience with VMware ESXI builds, ESXI Patching, Standard/Distributed Switching
  • Prefer the Bachelor degree is in Information Systems or Computer Science, from an accredited institution
  • Experience with Application Monitoring Tools (i.e. SolarWinds preferred)
  • Experience with IAAS / ERP Cloud experience
  • Experience with Disaster Recovery Site Build
  • Experience with QAD / SQL Administration On-Prem/Cloud
  • Certifications related to Windows, VMware, and/or Database administration.
  • MCSE/MCITP/VCP Certifications preferred
  • Understanding of and experience with Microsoft operating systems, Active Directory & Domain architecture, NTFS permissions, DNS, OS security, and systems patching.
  • Experience working in a large, complex, global business.
  • Experience working with critical infrastructure supporting Business servers.
  • Knowledge of securing critical Windows infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of multi-site backup systems – experience with NetBackup and CommVault preferred.
  • Knowledge of installation, configuration, securing, administrating and supporting virtual server infrastructure, including VMware hosts and associated virtual servers, and ancillary servers that support this infrastructure.
  • Experience managing service delivery in a rapidly changing technical environment.
  • Experience coordinating service delivery between local, business unit, and centralized technical resources.
