Primary Purpose of the Job
  • This is an experienced position in the GIS organization of Arconic. The principal responsibilities of this position are to participate in the development, deployment and implementation of new systems, technologies and information solutions; to understand and direct others in supporting and enhancing existing systems and technologies; and to apply Arconic’s standards, procedures and technologies. The incumbent will also participate as an internal consultant to Arconic's businesses and various customer groups.
  • The End User Productivity team is responsible for the ArconicDirect B-to-B platform and corporate website that connects Arconic systems with customers, suppliers, and other Arconic systems, providing vital communications with known users and the general public, respectively. The team maintains the environment to ensure continuous operations and actively designs and builds innovative solutions to address business and customer needs. This role will encompass support coordination, project management and compliance activities, as well as participation in the management and planning of the infrastructure and operating environments of the End User Productivity area.
  • Specifically, for ArconicDirect and, primary responsibilities include:
    • Be the Subject Matter Expert for ArconicDirect
      • Provide accurate information and guidance to help shape strategic direction of the platform
      • Provide guidance to internal stakeholders on existing and proposed functionality
    • Monitor and manage the activities of off-shore support and development resources for the ArconicDirect application
    • Monitor and manage the flow of information within the support mailbox and task queue for - working with internal customers and interpreting requests quickly and accurately to facilitate development resources efforts in a timely manner under tight deadlines and accelerated customer timelines
    • Provide guidance and verification of compliance activities within both areas
Major activities / Key challenges
  • Work alone or as part of a team to develop, implement, evaluate, procure, and/or support computer systems and information solutions that meet the needs of the customer and add the most value to the company. This is to be accomplished by utilizing technically sound methods of investigation, analysis, design, planning, and scheduling
  • Establish and maintain a high level of customer interaction in order to identify and recommend computer and business solutions to effectively and efficiently satisfy the data processing and information requirements of the business
  • Provide/coordinate reactionary support and/or preventive maintenance on the systems or technologies in assigned area(s) of responsibility, with minimal supervision
  • Provide advice and counsel to the customers of the systems or technologies in assigned area(s) of responsibility, and to other GIS personnel
  • Develop a thorough understanding of the business processes or technologies in area(s) of responsibility; participate in, and learn how to perform the analysis of the customer's processes to identify gaps and opportunities for improvement.
  • Follow the project management process in assigned area(s) of responsibility
  • Operate within Arconic IS standards and conventions and applicable Arconic Business/Resource Unit IT standards
  • Identify, establish and support value-added cross-functional data and system linkages
  • Follow appropriate methodologies, support processes, and procedures
  • Comply with all IT compliance guidelines (with a specific focus on business partnerships, change control, disaster recovery, and security) for assigned area(s) of responsibility
  • Pursue continuous learning consistent with the movement in the job requirements and changes in technology
  • In addition to individual priorities, manage a single system service or smaller project including project estimates, status communications, and schedules; execute the plans including frequent review with immediate supervisor
  • Lead the discovery, planning, and implementation of process improvements in individual tasks
  • Execute proof of concepts and feasibility analyses for new technological capabilities in the ArconicDirect area

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 3 years of information systems experience.
  • Minimum of 1 year diverse programming experience (minimum of 2 different languages).
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, business, or math from an accredited institution.
  • 3 years of diverse programming experience with 2 or more programming languages.
  • Familiarity with Unix/Linux environment.
  • Working knowledge of SQL and XML.
  • Demonstrate a solid understanding of system life cycle.
  • Manage small projects.
  • Provide work direction to a small team.
  • Possess strong human relation skills, and be able to interact with internal and external customers, vendors, other IS professionals, and GIS management.
  • Demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to self-learn, research, and understand new technologies.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills with a strong will to solve problems, adapt, and take initiative.
