Arconic is currently in search of a Surface SQM Specialist to join our global Rolled Products (GRP), business unit in Alcoa, TN. Arconic’s Tennessee Operations, is one of the most modern aluminum fabricating facilities in the world. Our plants produce high-quality molten metal and aluminum sheet, and are recognized as a world leader in the business. The facility has been located at the Foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains for 100 years, and continues to thrive and grow.

The Surface SQM Specialist will be responsible for combining a fundamental understanding of customer requirements with expertise of the Surface Quality Monitoring (SQM) systems to deliver optimum quality cost solutions.

Responsibilities:
  • Work with other technical personnel to develop, refine and maintain various surface imaging technologies on the processes assigned;
  • Train and coach staff, operating and maintenance personnel on use of the SQM, interpretation of results, and equipment maintenance;
  • Work with operating personnel to define reaction plans and incorporating SQM information into daily management and problem solving;
  • Assist in troubleshooting and repairs to the systems in conjunction with other technical resources within the corporation and the system supplier(s);
  • Support Production departments in improving visual (non-SQM) inspection methodologies;
  • Establish and follow relevant report and data storage procedures to ensure all corporate and customer specifications are met;
  • Support system reliability by maintaining an adequate spare part inventory;
  • Use of Advance Product Quality Planning (APQP) quality systems tools (FMEA, control plans, reactions plans, ISO9001), corrective action tools, and auditing processes to ensure the quality of the products produced and adherence to established procedures and relevant industrial specifications;
  • Interface with Outside Processors or customers as needed to understand and resolve issues related to surface and surface inspection.


Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED from an accredited institution;
  • Minimum of 3 months of experience in a manufacturing environment;
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution;
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment;
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience with statistics, electronic communications, or data analysis;
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience with quality systems, rolling, sheet fabricating, or technical support;
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience with Surface Quality Monitoring (SQM) systems.
