Job Description

Arconic is currently seeking a Supply Chain Manager to join our Global Rolled Products (GRP) Operations business unit at our Tennessee Operations location in Alcoa, TN.

The Supply Chain Manager will have both strategic and tactical responsibilities for materials management & scheduling. They will report directly to the Plant Manager, and manage a team of direct reports.

Responsibilities:
  • Support the business in materials management and planning to achieve maximum customer service at the lowest possible inventory cost by assigning and developing resources within respective organization.
    • Set clear materials management and scheduling strategies by guiding group to develop and execute plans to prioritize backlog, current and future orders; and to optimize inventory, scrap flow and scrap sales within the framework of the agreed Supply Plan.
  • Develop team of supervisors, scheduling, scrap management, and material planning resources to maximize on-time performance, customer relationships, transportation, profitable capacity, Outside processer management and reduced inventory.
    • Assess the capability of each staff member and provide timely and effective personal development opportunities. It is the incumbent's responsibility to enhance the leadership and functional capabilities across the breadth of their organization for succession planning. The incumbent will be accountable for all personnel issues including, selection, termination, and performance appraisal with direction to ensure that key operating results are achieved.
    • Take a guiding role to ensure that group is developing and deploying systemic changes in the Supply Chain order fulfillment function based upon ABS principles that will lead to enhanced customer satisfaction while eliminating production and inventory waste.
  • Develop and execute material management strategies and processes using ABS principles to eliminate waste and maximize customer satisfaction. Oversees all outsourced manufacturing activities to ensure coordination with the master schedule.
  • Execute enhanced customer service models built from target conditions that respond to customer needs and competitive situations.
  • Implement ABS based processes that support customer problem resolution.
  • Develop and monitor tracking systems to evaluate supply chain plans and execution to supply chain plans to ensure agreed operating results are achieved.
  • Develop appropriate internal tests within existing and future target conditions to highlight delivery and inventory problems. Define the help chain that will drive to problem resolution and elimination.
  • Work cross-functionally to identify wasteful practices and information flows. Develop and implement target conditions that simplify information flows and align order fulfillment processes to facilitate problem solving. This requires extensive knowledge of metal and information flow paths to accomplish this objective.
  • Develop strategies to optimize management and flow of metal; prioritizing backlog, currents, and futures to achieve maximum customer service.
  • Represent the supply chain organization during customer visits, customer conference calls, and on-site visits to customer locations.
  • Manage negotiations, communications, relationships, and performance feedback for raw materials, scrap processing and systems suppliers.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience supply chain management in a manufacturing environment.
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management.
  • 7+ years of experience in flow path management, production flow and leveling, and production managerial systems.
  • Demonstrated leadership in a manufacturing environment.
  • Supervisory experience and the demonstrated ability to lead a process team or small work group.
  • Experience directing performance management for others
  • Experience presenting to all levels of plant management.
  • Understanding of Arconic mill operations and ability to interact with all levels of employees at Davenport facility
  • The ability to articulate, having outstanding verbal and written communication skills and possessing computer literacy.
  • A self-starter, with confidence in their own judgment and willing to face new situations and challenges.
  • Experience handling manufacturing challenges and customer interfaces in a professional manner.
  • Strong analytic skills
  • Advanced Microsoft office understanding, specifically in Excel/Access
