Arconic has an immediate opening for a Supplier Quality Engineer which will be based at our New Brighton, MN location.
The Supplier Quality Engineer is responsible for maintaining supplier quality management systems for the organization, participating with commodity sourcing teams to select and oversee the best, capable suppliers, managing supplier performance, collaborating with suppliers to assure they have effective quality management systems in place, leading supplier continuous improvement initiatives, assuring that effective corrective actions are implemented by suppliers for identified problems, providing quality assurance interface to all partners in the supply chain and maintaining supplier quality procedures.

 Key Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the development and implementation of a supplier quality management system for the organization and lead the quality compliance and continuous improvement initiatives throughout the supply chain value stream.
  • Participate with commodity sourcing teams to select and oversee the best, capable quality suppliers, including conducting supplier capability and quality audits and maintaining the supplier quality rating system.  Publish supplier quality metrics.
  • Assist Suppliers with the completion of part qualification requirements for all Preproduction builds and Production builds, train suppliers to effectively execute part qualification plans (PQP/PPAPs), Root Cause Analysis (RCA), PFMEA, DFMEA, Control plans and Corrective Actions/Preventative Actions (CAPA).
  • Evaluating supplier’s PFMEA and Control plans to confirm that key characteristics and in process controls are well defined and effective.
  • Interfacing with engineering, sourcing, purchasing, and production to improve processes and procedures, implement changes as needed to implement improvements.
  • Manage supplier performance and ensure company project documents, including customer requirements, specifications, drawings, key characteristics and regulations are communicated to suppliers.  Participate in design/spec reviews with suppliers.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and assure they have effective quality management systems in place.  Work with suppliers on first article qualification and production part approval.  Work with suppliers and engineering to develop control plans.
  • Lead supplier continuous improvement initiatives, including completing root-cause analysis studies to identify process improvements, identifying cost reductions and incorporating LEAN principles into our suppliers’ processes.  Develop and conduct supplier training.
  • Assure that effective corrective actions are implemented by suppliers for identified problems.
  • Provide quality assurance interface to customers, suppliers, partners as required throughout the supply chain.
  • Maintain and update supplier quality procedures.




Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution;
  • Minimum 2 years of manufacturing, quality and/or supplier quality experience;
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States.  Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire.  Visa sponsorship is not available for this position;
  • Due to ITAR requirements, only US citizens and those authorized to work in the US without sponsorship will be considered.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • In-depth knowledge of GD&T, quality engineering techniques and basic quality tools.
  • Understanding of APQP gate Review development process.
  • LEAN / Six Sigma training and demonstrated application.
  • Experience utilizing manufacturing quality plans.
  • Experience utilizing process capability, GR&R, PFMEA and SPC studies.  
  • Experience optimizing processes to achieve ongoing cost reductions.
  • Experience in a precision machine shop environment.
  • Experience using an ERP system.
  • Experience in an ISO or AS9100 environment conducting internal and supplier audits
  • Experience working within a CAPA program.
  • Demonstrated use of structured problem-solving methods (i.e. 8D).
  • Proficient PC skills in a Windows environment.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
