Supervises and coordinates activities of employees engaged in inspecting completed and in-process items, parts, and finished products for defects and workmanship by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  This is not intended as a comprehensive list, rather, it is intended to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities. Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional position-specific tasks.

  • Executes daily inspection plans through coordination with other lead personnel and production employees.
  • Read, interpret drawings and specifications, and complete all quality related documentation.
  • Apply AS9100/ISO 9001 principles and ensure adherence to quality control manual.
  • Responsible for implementing and maintaining instrument calibration program.
  • Provides clear verbal and written direction to subordinate employees related to safety and quality.
  • Ensures that departmental variable cost and checkbook budgets are met in accordance with financial forecasts. 
  • Ensures that each inspection operation under his /her supervision is performed according to plan.
  • Executes inspection schedules and estimates labor hour requirements for completion of job assignments.
  • Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product as part of continuous improvement.
  • Ensures that daily targets are met during his/her shift and assists other shifts meet their daily goals.
  • Approves employees’ time cards and monitors overtime assignments to ensure it complies with policies and legal requirements.
  • Maintains a safe, clean and organized work environment.
  • Conducts and ensures that standard operating procedure training is conducted daily, weekly, or monthly as required by company policy.
  • Conducts regular operational audits to ensure that safety, quality, and housekeeping practices are followed according to plan.
  • Writes daily inspection, quality and safety reports as necessary.
  • Performs injury investigations and injury prevention improvements.
  • Participates in teams and committees as necessary.
  • Prepares requisitions and orders supplies and materials as necessary.


Directly supervises employees in the Inspection Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (BS) in engineering or other related field from an accredited institution
  • 3 years of experience within an inspection environment
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Metallurgical Engineering
  • Machining experience
  • 5 years of related experience in an inspection environment within the aerospace industry
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Proficient in application of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) principles per ASME Y14.5M to as-forged, semi-finished and finished machined components.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Proficient in MRP systems
