Job Description

Arconic Fastening Systems is looking for a Staff Mechanical Engineer who is responsible for driving New Product Development initiatives and providing technical leadership for all projects. This position is located at our aerospace manufacturing facility in Carson, CA.

Essential Functions:
Responsible for driving the creation of a portfolio of profitable new technology-driven products and processes that take advantage of mega-trends and emerging technologies. Responsible for the technical leadership of new product development projects including schedule, technical and business objectives. 
 
Specific Responsibilities Include:  
  • Responsible for driving the creation of a portfolio of profitable new technology-driven products and processes that take advantage of mega-trends and emerging technologies;
  • Responsible for the technical leadership of new product development projects including schedule, technical and business objectives;
  • Ability to complete manufacturing environment procedures, methods, metallurgy, design and documentation;
  • Oversee manufacturing processes relevant to aerospace fasteners;
  • Work under the direction of a Sr. Engineer or Engineering Manager to manage new product development projects from concept development to design/product definition, verification and validation;
  • Ability to lead new product development projects including cost and schedule to meet customer and business objectives.

Qualifications

Basic Requirements:
  • Master of Science degree in Engineering;
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a high volume manufacturing environment procedures, methods, design and documentation; demonstrated understanding of manufacturing processes;
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States.  Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire.  Visa sponsorship is not available for this position;
  • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status.  ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
 
 
Preferred Qualifications:
  • PhD in Mechanical Engineering;
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment;
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working with the following operating systems: UNIX (or LINUX)
  • Experience with non-linear finite element methods, and multi-physics problems in a high-performance computing environment;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of finite element methods using Abaqus (or equivalent), Solid Works, and MathLab (or equivalent);
  • Knowledge of a programming environment applicable to finite element methods;
  • Conducting research in a work-related setting or university graduate level (especially at Masters level) in the fields of science and engineering; experience with scientific research methods and their implications at different stages of the development process;
  • Experience in the aerospace industry.
