Job Description

The Arconic Technology Center (ATC) is constantly inventing and innovating for the next generation of technology. Primary Purpose of the Job
To aid in the design, redesign, operation, maintenance and repair of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration and electrical equipment and all supporting systems in a cost effective manner for all of ATC and Arconic business unit customers. This will be done with a high regard for professionalism and open communication with all teams and individual team members of all disciplines. A proactive approach will be taken to assess possible future needs and requirements and yet allow response to immediate issues. This will be done while maintaining the highest of standards for safety and environmental concerns.
 
 
Major activites
  • Perform all work and conduct oneself in a manner that promotes the safety of the individual and all others at ATC. In addition, be aware of and protect the environment causing no negative impact.
  • Perform work on water cooled and Air cooled chillers up to 900 tons.
  • Perform work on Natural gas heaters up to 1,000,000 BTU/hr
  • Perform work on pneumatic Temperature control systems.
  • Preventative maintenance and service to existing HVAC and electrical equipment; to provide for the reliable operation of this equipment. This is to be done targeting no more than forty eight hours of unscheduled outage time, per year, for any individual piece of equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and make necessary repairs to existing HVAC and electrical equipment as the need for repairs is identified. If outages of equipment to make repairs are necessary, these outages must be coordinated with the effected process partners to minimize the impact to the process partners and their projects.
  • Perform construction and installation work for projects that are determined necessary to upgrade HVAC and electrical equipment that services the facilities and research projects at ATC.
  • Work with Engineering when requested. This is to provide support and assistance on projects where they are doing engineering for new installations or upgrades to existing equipment.
  • Supporting the facilities and research projects is especially challenging because of the constantly changing requirements created by being in a research environment. The means by which researchers accomplish their goals is constantly changing and requires patience, understanding, and a willing attitude to do whatever is necessary to support the researchers in their efforts.
 
 
Essential Knowledge & Skills/Education
  • Formal training beyond a High School degree. Skills and knowledge equivalent to a journeyperson in the craft trades or equivalent years of education and experience.
  • %22Universal%22 Refrigerant Transition and Recovery Certification.
  • Two-four years’ experience in an industrial or heavy commercial environment.
  • Moderate electrical background and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics.
  • Be physically able and willing to wear and use an air purifying respirator.
  • Be physically able and willing to be trained to operate self propelled man lifts.
  • Be physically able and willing to be trained to operate mobile equipment of various kinds.
  • Be physically able and willing to wear required  fall protection


Qualifications

Basic Qualifications
  • Formal training beyond a High School degree from an accredited institution. Skills and knowledge equivalent to a journeyperson in the craft trades or equivalent years of education and experience.
  • %22Universal%22 Refrigerant Transition and Recovery Certification.
  • Minimum 2 years experience in an industrial or heavy commercial environment.
  • Moderate electrical background and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of plant equipment and maintenance processes.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite such as Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States.  Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire.  Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status.  ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
