Arconic Fastening Systems (AFS) is seeking a Sr. Financial Accountant at our Sylmar, CA location.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare entries to accounts, such as general ledger accounts, documenting business transactions.
  • Performs statistical analyses to determine trends, estimates, and significant changes, and writes narrative reports explaining findings.
  • Analyzes financial information detailing assets, liabilities, and capital, and prepares balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other reports to summarize and interpret current and projected company financial position for other managers.
  • Participates in formulating projected
  • Monitors compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and company procedures.
  • Reviews, investigates, and corrects errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents, and reports.
  • Makes recommendations regarding the accounting of reserves, assets, and expenditures.
  • Conducts studies and submits recommendations for improving the organization's accounting operation.
  • Collects appropriate data and prepares federal, state, and local reports and tax returns.
  • Update internal fixed assets/capital projects analyses.
  • Assists for month end closing process.
  • Assist in an functions, as requested to ensure successful operation and achievement of objectives of the business unit.
  • Perform ASAT/SOX audit/testing
  • Analyze data and determine appropriate labor and burden rates
  • Maintain work center rates in QAD system
  • Perform cost roll-ups and revaluations as needed
  • Research production and inventory variances – determine root cause and initiate corrective action
  • Enter journal entries as needed
  • Reconcile inventory and accrual accounts to the general ledger
  • Report monthly labor and cost metrics
  • Review and analyze cycle counting results
  • Analyze inventory for excess, obsolete and lower of cost/market exposure
  • Monitor purchases clearing accounts – research and correct balances
  • Reconcile intercompany accounts
  • Prepare production and inventory slides for Operations and Staff Reviews
  • Assist with month-end schedules and worksheets
  • Process miscellaneous credits and account write-offs
  • Assist with annual budgeting process
  • Measure and validate cost savings initiatives
  • Enter RFA and other miscellaneous purchase requisitions
     


Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in an Accounting or Finance role
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility is required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITRA defines U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen U.S. Permanent Resident (ie. ‘Green Card Holder’), Political Asylee, or Refugee
     
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting or Business preferred
  • Master’s degree in Business, Accounting or Finance from an accredited institution preferred
  • CPA and or CMA certifications preferred
  • Experience with standard costing systems and budgets
  • Experience with Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) and reporting requirements preferred
  • Experience with Enterprise Business Systems (such as: Oracle or SAP) preferred
  • Experience in a Manufacturing Environment preferred
