Job Description

Primary Purpose of the Job:
  • To aid in the design, redesign, operation, maintenance and repair of process control equipment, control systems, combustion systems, equipment calibration, and instrumentation equipment, and all supporting systems in a cost-effective manner for all of ATC and Arconic business unit customers. This will be done with a high regard for professionalism and open communication with all teams and individual team members of all disciplines. A proactive approach will be taken to assess possible future needs and requirements and yet allow response to immediate issues. This will be done while maintaining the highest of standards for safety and environmental concerns.
 
Major Activities / Key Challenges:
  • Perform all work and conduct oneself in a manner that promotes the safety of the individual and all others at ATC. In addition, be aware of and protect the environment causing no negative impact.
  • Calibrate electrical, mechanical, and electronic instruments and equipment.  
  • Ensure that recording, measuring, and indicating devices and equipment meet established standards and consistently produce accurate and reliable results.
  • Analyze test data to make decisions about the need for calibration, repair, and maintenance.  
  • Perform maintenance to ensure instruments and equipment meet performance and quality standards.
  • Track, schedule, and perform maintenance tasks.
  • Trouble shoot and make repairs to instruments, equipment and control systems.
  • Document and maintain records of calibration service performed.
  • Perform construction and installation work for power distribution equipment, process control equipment, control systems, combustion systems, equipment calibration, that service the facilities and research projects at ATC.
  • Work with Engineering when requested. This to provide support and assistance on projects, where the engineers are doing engineering for new installations or upgrades to existing equipment.
  • Supporting the facilities and research projects is especially challenging because of the constantly changing requirements created by being in a research environment. The means by which researchers accomplish their goals is constantly changing and requires patience, understanding, and a willing attitude to do whatever is necessary to support the researchers in their efforts.
  • Role requires working overtime and responding to call-outs as needed.
 
Essential Knowledge & Skills / Education:
  • Be knowledgeable and apply safe work practices as defined by NFPA 70E and the National Electric Code (NEC).
  • Monitor and interpret PLC indicators and functions. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics.
  • Be physically able and willing to wear electrical Personal protective equipment, air purifying respirator, operate self-propelled man lifts, operate mobile equipment of various kinds, and willing to wear required fall protection.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and work with minimal supervision.
  • Computer skills including but not limited to Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.


Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
  • Formal training beyond a High School degree.
  • Skills and knowledge equivalent to a journeyperson in the craft trades or equivalent years of education and experience.
  • Two to four years’ experience in an industrial or heavy commercial environment.
  • Working knowledge of plant equipment and maintenance processes.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite such as Outlook, Word and Excel. 
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States.  Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire.  Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status.  ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
  • No relocation benefit is offered for this position.
