Arconic has an exciting opportunity for a SMART Lean Manufacturing Manager to work with Arconic’s Global Rolled Products (GRP) Center of Excellence (COE) for SMART Manufacturing.

The Lean Manufacturing Manager will be accountable for delivering sustainable value-added improvements that are grounded in operations and technical reality. This position will help execute the SMART strategy by developing and implementing best practices. This position will report to the Manager, Smart Manufacturing COE, but functionally to each BU GM or PM dependent upon specific role.

  • Provide business unit and plant support on major improvement initiatives to drive closure on gaps identified
  • Lead, coach, and execute support for lean improvement initiatives at all GRP plants, with a major focus in North America. This position works closely with the operating, technical, and supply chain leadership, as well as ABS Managers.
  • Advise Plant Managers, Area Managers, location ABS managers, and plant employees on how to overcome resistance to change.
  • Help plants capture value and utilize tools with Daily Management by helping them have better access to data instead of looking for data, and use data to be proactive rather than reactive
  • Influence leadership practices of various BU's and align key initiatives throughout the organizational system without direct authority to do so.
  • Be able to navigate conflicting priorities internal and external demands that impact current manufacturing processes and capabilities.
  • Influencing decisions that may be in direct conflict such as cost issues and creating a customer-centric culture.
  • Work across a range of international locations, with diverse cultures, often through the services of an interpreter, to bring about rapid change and accelerated take up of ABS principles.
  • Work independently for extended periods, without frequent referral, to establish Arconic ABS practices and principles
  • With managers/supervisors, diagnose problems from a system's perspective.
  • Analyzes process gaps, develops alternative solutions to address gaps, and ultimately lead the decision-making process with the BU/RU managers for final resolution.
  • Provide support, guidance and consultation to Plant Managers
  • Coach, supervise, and mentors lend forwards on ABS projects in business units.
  • Assist in the development and execution of the GRP COE SMART Lean strategy
  • Work with plants to develop and execute Smart Manufacturing Projects to deliver $50M annually(equivalent to 1% revenue to increase ëITDA by 1 pt) by increasing use of digital and physical automation across GRP.
  • Develop and help implement best practices for Operational Systems (L3 focused) that allow for Sustaining Gains and driving Continuous Improvement. Improve existing Daily Management systems at all levels to spend less time getting the data and more time problem solving with the data.
  • Note: The initial location will be Alcoa, TN, Davenport, IA, or Lancaster, PA, but the incumbent may eventually be relocated to roll out best practices in other GRP locations. Traveling to GRP locations is required 50%-75% of the time.


Basic Qualifications:
  • ​Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
  • Minimum of 5 years of Lean Manufacturing experience
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited institution
  • Masters or other advanced degree preferred
  • Lean Six Sigma Green belt or higher certification
  • Ability to travel 50%, including globally
