Job Description

This position brings materials, powder and dispersion characterization, high temperature equipment and operational skills to support fine powder synthesis, powder processing, fundamentals of colloidal dispersions and part fabrication enabling numerous Arconic businesses including ceramics for defense and investment casting, additive manufacturing, architectural and transportation.
 
Major Activities / Key Challenges:
 
• Knowledge of raw materials, powders, wet and dry powder processing as well as powder, part and dispersion characterization including rheological, chemical, physical and thermal properties of inorganic material systems developed at the bench and pilot scale
• Utilizes physical and wet chemistry laboratory techniques 
• Responsible for raw material and metal powder tracking system, material characterization and processing
• Accountable for organizing, documenting laboratory procedures, coordinating equipment and schedules within the operation
• Demonstrates ability to apply technical procedures, rigorous laboratory practices and contribute to the solution to material/process development and optimization.
• Requires clear, sound communication skills to technically interact with others. Provides information to other technicians, operational personnel as well as technical program managers and department leads
 
Essential Knowledge & Skills / Education:
 
• Bachelor's degree with a focus on science, chemistry and materials with experience in material characterization, and chemical laboratory techniques
• Strong analytical and data processing skills with a rigorous, methodical approach to assignment and safety
• Experience in handling and processing of raw material, powders and /or dispersions at the bench scale with limited supervision
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organization skills as well as the ability to influence others


Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
 
• Bachelor's degree in chemistry, chemical engineering or material science degree from an accredited institution with a minimum of 1 year of laboratory experience, i.e. lab courses, internships, summer employment
• Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States.  Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire.  Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
• This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status.  ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
• No relocation benefit is offered for this position.
