Job Description

The function of this position is to continue to support ATC tenants and their customers by providing accurate, cost-effective specimen layout, sawing and minor machining support. These services will be provided with an emphasis made to ensure that specimens and parts are extracted accurately from specified locations and that traceability is maintained in accordance to specified written procedures.

Major Activities / Key Challenges:
  • Actively participate in Human Performance, safety and housekeeping efforts and maintain an orderly, clean work area.
  • Interact with customers and testing groups to ensure an understanding of project and testing requirements. Per A2LA, 17025, and NADCAP certifications:
    • Accurately layout locations of specimens per customer instructions.
    • Saw and shear specimens from customer supplied material.
    • Maintain traceability of samples for machining and testing.
    • Operate machine shop equipment such as CNC and manual mills and lathes to accurately produce specimen samples.
  • Inspect and document own work
Essential Knowledge & Skills / Education:
  • Helps to provide a safe workplace by assisting in developing, promoting, and following practices which prevent injury and meet legal safety requirements.

  • Able to accurately use scales, tape measures, and common layout tools as well as more accurate inspection tools such as micrometers, calipers and optical comparators.
  • Perform basic machine setups on manual equipment.
  • Read and understand componant drawings and accurately interpret project requirements from them.
  • Demonstrate initiative for continued learning and growth.
  • Must be fully competent in the following success factors: Customer focus, communication, initiative, attention to detail, self confidence.

Basic Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent (GED) from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of 1 year experience
  • Basic knowledge in operating the following machine shop equipment -,Band Saw, Shear, Drill Press, Lathes and/ or milling machines.
  • Use of measuring tools such as micrometers and calipers.
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
  • No relocation benefit is offered for this position.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Enrolled in or completion of a journeyman machinist program or equivalent
  • 1-3 years CNC experience
  • Ability to read, understand g-code
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft programs such as word and excel are a plus.
