Job Description

Arconic is currently in search of a Senior SQL Technical Leader to join our Global Information Systems (GIS) organization located in Pittsburgh, PA.
The Senior SQL Technical Leader is responsible for technical leadership, architectural design, business analysis, planning, solution design, third level support and project delivery for Arconic’s SQL Server Infrastructure.
The role will work closely with the application teams located throughout the globe to deliver infrastructure for SQL based application and ensuring the projects are delivered that meet customer needs and Arconic’s compliance policies. The role is also responsible for development of the SQL Server infrastructure strategy, including planning and communication of strategic upgrades and planning and rollout of new technologies as appropriate.  This role requires project management skills, the ability to coordinate globally across time zones and regions, as well as provide technical leadership to both infrastructure system administrators and SQL Server Operational Support teams.  Understanding of various application architectures especially web applications is also important. 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Architectural design and capacity planning for the SQL Server Infrastructure area.
  • Develop and document project requirements, including detailed specs, work estimates, timelines, deliverables and milestones.
  • Provide leadership and technical direction to infrastructure system administrators and operational support teams.
  • Lead the discovery, planning and implementation of process improvements in the SQL Server Infrastructure area.
  • Establish and maintain a high level of customer interaction to identify and recommend computer and business solutions needed for effectively and efficiently satisfy the data processing and information requirements of the business.
  • Operate within Arconic IS standards and conventions and applicable Arconic BU/RU IT standards.
  • Ensure compliance with all guidelines detailed in the IT ASAT (with a specific focus on business partnerships, change control, disaster recovery, and security) for SQL Server Infrastructure.
  • Develop backup and disaster recovery strategies for production environment
  • Recommendation of strategic investments in the SQL infrastructure areas and evaluation of Cloud offering in the SQL area.


Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in information systems.
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. 
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, Math, or Business Administration from an accredited institution
  • Must demonstrate a solid understanding of system life cycle.
  • Must have strong human relation skills and be able to interact with internal and external customers, vendors, other IS professionals and IS management.
  • Must have project management experience in leading several large projects, and demonstrate a solid understanding of project management processes, methodologies, and techniques.
  • Must be able to provide work direction to larger teams and manage large projects.
  • Experience with App and database Services within Azure Cloud
  • Experience with the capacity planning, installation, configuration, log shipping, backup and recovery of SQL Server.
  • Experience with SQL
  • Experience in query optimization and performance tuning of stored procedures, functions and views.
  • Experience in creating business, functional and technical documentation
