Job Description

The Senior Quality Engineer provides senior leadership and guidance to the organization and peers, acting as a change agent to implement process improvement across the organization in the achievement of an operational excellence environment.  This Quality Professional may have a team leader role in respective areas.  This is accomplished through application of knowledge in quality systems, driving adherence to disciplined systems and robust processes, and focused standardization of best practices; in conjunction with managing to a cohesive set of key performance metrics that provide an objective perspective on the business operating system health and effectiveness. The Quality Engineer also creates and maintains cross functional relationships needed to foster a proactive engagement culture amongst the business operations team and a productive working relationship with customers.
Primary Purpose of Position:
  • Under the direction of the Quality Manager, the Senior Quality Engineer has the following responsibilities:
  • Serving as a technical consultant to the facility in quality assurance systems functions including, but not limited to; quality system specification requirements; internal and third party audits.
  • Primary Quality resource for special projects and new technology initiatives, as needed, in support of the overall business strategy.
  • Tracking audit corrective action, investigations, documentation, and implementation.
  • Developing and implementing effective quality assurance systems and procedures to ensure compliance with customer and corporate requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with manufacturing, engineering and ABS on APQP and FMEA related to new product development / launch.
  • Lead process improvement teams when required. This includes assisting with corrective action development and training.
  • Assist in conducting system, product and process audits. Monitor all manufacturing processes through audits and daily evaluations to ensure that processes are being followed.
  • Apply advanced knowledge of quality systems and tools to drive disciplined systems, robust processes and standardization of quality plans and best practices.
  • Provide coaching and support for plant quality technicians to ensure strategies and plans are implemented at the location.
  • Oversee all customer claims management and ensure robust problem solving and corrective actions.
  • Coordinate critical supplier quality activities with purchasing. Help to audit and qualify new suppliers and to problem solve supplier quality issues.
  • Assist Quality Manager as liaison between Manufacturing, Quality and Engineering relative to customer specifications, customer quality requirements, and customer problems.
  • Travel as necessary to customers and suppliers to assist with quality improvement activities.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Quality Manager.

  • Streamline and improve existing data analytics tools within the continuous improvement processes and systems;
  • Use data, best practices and Kaizen methodologies to increase process efficiency and reduce operational cost.
  • Must have working knowledge of manufacturing and quality processes and principles.
  • Requires experience in product and process failure analysis and an understanding of quality techniques such as SPC, TQM, Kaizen, MRB etc.
  • Good understanding of SMART manufacturing techniques.
  • Must have demonstrated a record of achievement in problem solving with production teams.
  • Must be skilled in use of personal computers with emphasis on analytical software.
  • Excellent verbal communication, presentation, training and leadership skills.
  • Oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and superior organizational abilities.
  • Ability to take initiative, to maintain confidentiality, to meet deadlines, and to work in a team environment essential.
  • MS Office Suite Skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)


Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution
  • Minimum 5 years experience in a fast paced lean manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum 2 years experience in quality techniques SPC and TQM
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) designation
  • Six Sigma Green Belt
  • JDE & Lotus Notes experience preferred.
  • New product development and launch experience preferred.
  • Experience with extrusion, anodize, paint, and fabrication processes.
  • Product knowledge and / or experience related to the building and construction market.
  • Experience with APQP, FMEA, and problem solving.
  • Experience with lean manufacturing principles.
  • Knowledge of Quality methods, techniques, and equipment.
  • Demonstrated experience in coaching others.
