Arconic Fastening Systems is looking for a Lead Senior Quality Engineer to direct and assist quality teams in obtaining efficient operation of the Quality activities.  This role will maintain a customer focus (quality and on-time delivery are priority); assure a safe and healthful workplace; direct and supervise activities of quality team, technicians, and operators; and show by example a commitment to employee involvement, participative management, and continuous improvement.  This position is located at our aerospace manufacturing plant in Carson, CA.

The Lead Senior Quality Engineer provides senior leadership and guidance to the organization and peers, acting as a change agent to implement process improvement across the organization in the achievement of an operational excellence environment. This Quality professional may have a team leader role in respective areas. This is accomplished through application of knowledge in quality systems, driving adherence to disciplined systems and robust processes, and focused standardization of best practices; in conjunction with managing to a cohesive set of key performance metrics that provide an objective perspective on the business operating system health and effectiveness. The Lead Sr. Quality Engineer also creates and maintains cross functional relationships needed to foster a proactive engagement culture amongst the business operations team and a productive working relationship with customers.

Primary Purpose of Position:
  • Serving as a technical consultant to the facility in quality assurance systems functions including, but not limited to; quality system specification requirements and internal and third-party audits;
  • Supervise, coach and mentor quality technicians;
  • Provide guidance to ensure strategies and plans are implemented at the location;
  • Quality resource for special project and new product initiatives, as needed, in support of the overall business strategy;
  • Tracking corrective action investigations, documentation, and implementation;
  • Developing and implementing effective quality assurance processes to ensure compliance with customer and corporate requirements;
  • Lead process improvement and scrap reduction teams when required;
  • Assist in conducting system, product and process assessments;
  • Oversee customer returns and ensure robust problem solving and corrective actions;
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with AS9100 and Nadcap requirements;
  • Liaison between Manufacturing, Quality and Engineering relative to customer specifications, customer quality requirements, and customer problems;
  • Travel as necessary to customers and suppliers to assist with quality improvement activities.
Major Activities/Key Challenges:
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to develop and use structured approaches to identify root causes and recommend solutions;
  • Ability to lead technical activities to meet timing and budgetary targets;
  • Use data, best practices and Kaizen methodologies to increase process efficiency and reduce operational cost;
  • Must have working knowledge of manufacturing and quality processes and principles;
  • Experience in product and process failure analysis.


Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited Institution
  • Minimum 3 years in a manufacturing environment.
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States.  Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire.  Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status.  ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) designation
  • Six Sigma Green Belt
  • New product development and launch experience preferred.
  • Product knowledge and / or experience related to aerospace.
  • Experience with lean manufacturing principles.
  • Knowledge of Quality methods, techniques, and equipment.
  • Demonstrated experience in coaching others
