Arconic Fastening Systems (AFS) is seeking a Senior Quality Engineer/Supervisor to be responsible for directing and assisting quality teams in obtaining efficient operation of the Quality activities. This role will maintain a customer focus (quality and on-time delivery are priority); assure a safe and healthful workplace; direct and supervise activities of quality team leads, technicians, and operators; and show by example a commitment to employee involvement, participative management, and continuous improvement. This position is located at our aerospace manufacturing plant in Carson, CA.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Direct quality teams in evaluating products to meet the customer’s quality and on-time delivery requirements.
  • Supervise teams and/or individuals in the areas of personnel actions in compliance with company policies.
  • Schedule/approve overtime, vacations and other personnel administrative requests.
  • Assist/lead combined teams in setting and achieving productivity (OTD) and quality targets (scrap, attrition, returns).
  • Establish procedures for shop floor housekeeping and 5S implementation and coach teams in their continuous improvement efforts.
  • Perform RCCA as required.
  • Attend daily Production Review Meetings; participate as a Safety Committee member.
  • Perform tasks as needed in support of QMS, QA group teams and leads.
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with AS9100 and Nadcap requirements.
  • Work in a safe manner that promotes the health and well-being of the individual and the environment.
  • Comply with all EHS rules and regulations and supervisory instructions.
  • Report all incidents including injuries, spills, fires, property damage, and near misses to their supervisor

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited Institution
  • Minimum 4 years of Quality Assurance experience in manufacturing
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prefer the Bachelor’s Degree is in Engineering, from an accredited institution.
  • Experienced with manufacturing of precision metal components (precision metal removal or metal forming)
  • Quality experience in the aerospace industry
  • Experience with AS9100 and Nadcap (heat treatment) quality requirements
  • Supervisory experience
