Building and Construction Systems, a business unit of Arconic, is the leading manufacturer of architectural aluminum products and systems for the commercial construction industry. Kawneer is part of Arconic’s global Building and Construction Systems (BCS) business unit, which manufactures and markets architectural systems and products in North America, Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
We have an immediate opening with our Arconic/Kawneer business for a Senior Project Manager at our offices in Harrisonburg, VA.  This position will provide a high-level customer service and drive revenues through the proactive management of major commercial construction projects.  This role acts as a key liaison between our external customers, internal customers, team members, vendors, and other companies related to the projects, and ensuring deliverables are on time and within budget.
Duties & Responsibilities include:
  • Accountability for the projects that are in the market/areas of responsibility;
  • Analyze and manage projects to minimize risks;
  • Enter new orders timely to meet/exceed customer lead-time expectations;
  • Problem solve/arrive at solutions for orders that are held up with issues;
  • Understand and manage backlogs, looking proactively for challenges and correcting;
  • Proactively look for solutions for projects that exceed customer expectations;
  • Promote and service customers at a level that leads to more orders at highest profitability;
  • Understand overall plan needs and accepts accountability for the projects that are expected to meet/exceed the land in area of responsibility;
  • Effectively and timely manage claims and charges from customers to be fair, but at minimal as possible exposure;
  • Understand the market/area handled and proactively follow up to obtain new orders;
  • Timely and accurately respond to customer needs;
  • Maintain a proactive approach to opportunities to obtain new orders and repeat business;
  • Manage very large and complex Technical Services projects;
  • Work with Kawneer facilities on Advanced Quality Plans;
  • Hold weekly teleconferences between the customer and Kawneer's design, technical services, material planner and fabrication facilities;
  • Be able to work in ABS (based on Toyota Production System);
  • Use time management skills to meet release deadlines;
  • Offer department improvements to reduce claims and improve efficiency of Technical Services;
**Must be able to travel to Canada, Mexico and other countries as needed**
** Travel 25% up to 40%**
The ideal candidate will:
  • Possess knowledge of Kawneer product being used in application of specific – product information, installation instructions
  • Understand other trades and investigate usage if needed
  • Possess a Questioning Attitude;
  • Drive Improvement processes as required;
  • Be able to work with minimal supervision;
  • Be Receptive to change and have ability to flex on projects as required;
  • Maintain a customer focused mentality to exceed customer expectations while maintaining highest profitability.


Basic Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) from an accredited institution;
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in the construction industry;
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States.  Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire.  Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution;
  • Experience managing curtain wall and unitized curtain wall projects;
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a variety of departments such as Technical Services, Shop Floor Production, and Project Management with Kawneer Products;
  • Minimum of 3 years of commercial building product knowledge;
  • Possess Project Management Certification.
