Arconic is currently in search of a Sr. Manager Transportation Support to join the Global Financial Services group in Pittsburgh, PA.
 
Primary Purpose of the Job:
  • The Arconic Global Buy & Pay Center is in search of a Sr. Manager Transportation Support for our Pittsburgh corporate location. Reporting into the Director, Global Shared Services Buy & Pay, the Sr. Manager Transportation Support is responsible for the strategic and commercial decisions related to managing approximately $350M in annual freight payment disbursement and contract administration services for approximately 650,000 annual carrier invoices occurring within and between the United States, Canada and Mexico. This position also provides strategic leadership support for the implementation and sustainable operation of global freight payment and contract administration activities for Arconic's international regions.
 
Major Activities/Key Challenges:
  • Responsible for leading, guiding, and directing a team of direct reports.
  • Interact with multiple levels of internal and external organizations, including shippers and receivers of goods, transportation service providers and financial resources across global regions.
  • Ownership in managing a SQL based automated rate publication system, as well as execution of carrier legal terms, rules and rate agreements.
  • Responsible for managing the execution of Arconic contract legal terms that bind carriers to Arconic standards.
  • Interface with the Arconic Shared Ledger to ensure payments are accruing accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Deliver presentations describing area of accountability to groups of carriers and customers during conferences and forums.
 
Essential Knowledge& Skills/Education:
  • Strong written and oral communication and with the ability to present to all levels of employees, carriers, and customers.
  • Proficient use of PC applications to include Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to develop metrics that drive process improvements
  • Strong team building skills.
  • Understanding of basic accounting procedures.
  • Ability to execute multiple complex tasks.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution
  • Minimum five (5) years’ experience working in the transportation and logistics market
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
 
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Understanding of rate structures and ancillary costs for freight services and how they calculate for payment in all modes, contract administration activities, and interaction with customers and carriers.
  • Ability to drive consensus between plant and carrier representatives to achieve efficient freight payment processing
  • Good understanding of carrier contract language for all modes
  • Ability to resolve conflicts with carriers and locations when a lack of understanding of established standard procedures and processes occurs
  • Good understanding of General Ledger procedures
  • Good understanding of accrual process
  • Experience in leading a high-performance team
