Job Description

Primary Purpose and Major Activities

The Senior Manager, Commodity Risk Management will be responsible for global risk management and trading activities for base metals and other commodity exposures for Arconic, Inc. This currently includes the financial trading activities for aluminum, nickel, copper, and zinc. The role is responsible for minimizing profit/loss risks associated with commodity price volatility. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Analyze exposure information and develop trading strategies for Arconic's senior management to assist in the implementation and execution in the external marketplace.
  • Ensure audit preparedness and readiness with regards to Sarbanes Oxley and internal audit requirements.
  • Collect price exposure from various operating locations, maintain integrity of this data and ensure that accurate financial results are delivered to the locations based on their pricing activity.
  • Trade commodity swaps with Arconic’s derivatives counter-parties to offset business unit price exposures.
  • Collect, analyze and provide key market technical and fundamental data, as well as competitive intelligence information to internal customers and all levels of management.
  • Provide guidance related to pricing matters, both specific instances and overall price risk management, to various individuals in the purchasing, sales, finance, and management functions of the business.
  • Demonstrate creative thinking with ability to proactively design trading and analysis models as required.
  • Be a key advisor on and driver of strategic risk management solutions to enhance risk management capabilities across the organization.
  • Train finance, commercial, and operations teams in internal risk management policies and procedures as well as Arconic trading desk capabilities. Teach new traders how to trade metals and other exchange traded commodities.
  • Focus on timely completion of reporting, research, analytics, and presentations.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 5 years' prior work experience in a financial or commercially-oriented role.
  • Minimum of 2 years' progressive work experience in commodity risk management and trading.
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, or Economics from an accredited institution.
  • Master's degree in quantitative finance or related field from an accredited institution.
  • 2+ years of progressive experience in commodity risk management and trading of base metals for a manufacturing business.
  • Proven experience recommending and implementing risk management strategies to senior management.
  • Financial planning and analysis experience.
  • Self-starter, detail oriented.
