Job Description

Under the direction of the Labor Relations Manager, this position is responsible for providing advice and counsel to internal partners on strategies, policies, and programs related to employee engagement, talent development, succession planning, and other general human resource topics for Cleveland Operations. This position supports the deployment of the Cleveland Operations HR planning and analysis initiatives under the direction of the HR Manager and in partnership with the HR team. This position does not directly supervise other personnel. The incumbent communicates continually with all levels of personnel and management in the Operations and EHS Departments, as well as with union representatives, the union bargaining committee, the Director of Operations, and the internal legal team. Externally, they may communicate with outside agents.    
       Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Advising, counseling, and supporting all Operations and EHS Department personnel in adhering to and enforcing Corporate and Cleveland Operations HR initiatives, policies, and regulations.
Ensuring compliance with HR policies and practices, as well as complying to federal and state employment laws and regulations.
Interpreting labor agreements and providing counsel to Management on contract interpretations and implementation.
Participating in contract negotiation preparation and discussion.
Supporting aspects of recruitment and retention activities for hourly employees. This includes providing data and analysis to support key HR initiatives, such as Advanced Supervisory Excellence, Arconic Mentoring, and Leading Others to High Performance to produce succession planning data and analysis.
Consulting with management at all levels – legal, state, and federal agencies – to enhance productivity, ensure compliance and minimize the potential for litigation. Provide advice regarding aspects of employee relations.
Providing support to and coverage for the Labor Relations Manager, as necessary.   
Guiding supervisors through the 1st step of the grievance process. Assisting the Labor Relations Manager in the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Steps of the grievance process. Acting as the company’s advocate throughout the grievance process, when necessary.
Conduct thorough investigations into issues/concerns brought to the attention of HR by both front line supervisors as well as bargaining unit members. Provide recommendations regarding resolution and monitor action plans, if appropriate.


A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.  
Minimum 4 years of experience in human resources generalist and/or labor relations roles.
Minimum 2 years of experience in a unionized workplace.  
This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. ‘Green Card Holder’), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
A Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Labor Relations, Organizational Development, or a related field.
5+ years of experience in human resources generalist and/or labor relations roles.
