The Senior Staff Electrical Engineer is responsible (both individually and in teams) for the electrical engineering and process understanding of one or more pieces of equipment and/or facilities within Davenport Works.

The Senior Staff Electrical Engineer’s assignment will focus in the following principal areas:
1) Manage all aspects of engineering project work, including investigation, specification, design, funding, installation, tune up, documentation, maintenance training, and statistical startup of plant equipment.
2) Provide Electrical engineering and process improvement support in assigned areas of the production facility, including problem solving, tactical support, and proactive thinking with respect to process capabilities.

Additional Responsibilities:
  • Contribute to the safety awareness of the facility through active engagement in department EHS activities and as a participant on site wide or Corporate topic specific teams.
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to less experienced members of the engineering staff or maintenance organization.
  • Create and conduct up skill training for maintenance crafts and other support resources.
  • Oversee the activities of craft persons involved in the implementation of engineered solutions. In this role, be able to initiate and maintain an ongoing dialogue with installers to identify issues, clarify requirements, and facilitate use of safe work practices
  • Manage external vendors who provide electrical design and support functions
  • Be familiar with reliability techniques applicable to electrical systems used in an industrial setting.

  • Ability to oversee the activities of craft persons involved in the implementation of engineered solutions.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
  • B.S. Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 5 years electrical engineering experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with industrial automation, process control systems, power distribution, and PLC's. Experience leading, managing and executing electrical projects including design, installation, and commissioning.
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with combustion systems, large rolling mill control systems, or work in light metals industry.
  • Experience working in a Union environment.
  • B.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
