Job Description

Arconic Niles Operation, a titanium manufacturing facility, has an immediate opening for Senior EHS Professional. Our passionate commitment to EHS provides the successful candidate with an excellent environment in which to work and the leadership commitment and support to deliver results.  This position is a key member of the location’s EHS leadership team and is highly visible position in the plant and the Arconic Engineered Structures (AES) Business Unit. The Senior EHS Professional reports to the EHS Manager and is responsible for determining, planning, coordinating, scheduling and directing health, safety, and environmental activities to ensure regulatory compliance as well as protect human health and the environment.
Internal relationships include support to engineering, staff, supervisors and other plant personnel. External relationships include contacts with Division/Arconic EHS staff, government representatives, suppliers, equipment vendors, contractors, and others on matters related to EHS. The position will require expertise in Safety and Health with limited Environmental oversight.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:
    • Maintain a culture that is aligned with Arconic's EHS goals and objectives, with continuous EHS improvements.
    • Manage, direct, coach, lead, and motivate plant personnel to achieve EHS goals and objectives in a timely and safe manner.
    • Act as key EHS liaison with location manufacturing and maintenance organizations, assisting in the execution of their strategic and tactical EHS plans.
    • Assist in the development and implementation of Health and Safety programs and activities to achieve, maintain, and exceed compliance with relevant regulatory laws and regulations as well as comply with Arconic policies, standards, and procedures.
    • Assist in coordination of location Human Behavior (HP) implementation including and Critical 9+ compliance audits of employee behaviors and plant activities.
    • Participate in investigation teams, as required, to assure prompt, thorough incident review; make appropriate corrective action recommendations and entry into IHS and item closure tracking.
    • Facilitate implementation of Health & Safety systems including Industrial Hygiene programs and other health related requirements
    • Identify and develop good working relationships with federal, state and local authorities (i.e., safety agencies, fire departments, etc.) as well as appropriate internal Environmental, Health and Safety contacts.
    • Develop, coordinate and/or conduct H & S training programs.
    • Oversee review process for providing temporary accommodations, and function as the single point of accountability for worker's compensation case management.
    • Coordinate and assist in the execution of capital HS projects to ensure compliance with requirements and completion on a timely basis. This includes recommendation of HS capital equipment purchases and other equipment to ensure compliance with rules and regulations.
    • Lead and assist employee safety teams to understand and own safety and compliance down to the lowest level.


Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university;
  • Minimum 5 years of EHS experience;
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position;
  • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in an EHS function in a manufacturing setting.
  • Bachelor’s in an Environmental, Health, or Safety related discipline.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a unionized work environment.
  • CIH and/or CSP certification is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated professional with passion for change and relentless focus on execution.
  • Strong communication skills, analytical skills, problem solving and human relations skills.
  • Ability to make difficult decisions with sometimes and incomplete set of data.
