Job Description

The Reliability Engineer will help produce measurable results in Environmental/Health/Safety, Quality and Financial performance (cost and asset management) through the effective and efficient implementation of asset focused reliability (Total Productive Maintenance).   The position will help develop a customer-focused culture of discipline, attention-to-detail, and, teamwork that creates value through effective design and operation of the assets of the company.  Also, an important facet of this position is to develop her / his skills to allow for continuing expansion of responsibility.
  • Expected to assist in the implementation of Alcoa/Howmet’s EHS value and policy statement and its accompanying principles.
  • Comply with all department, facility, Corporate and Regulatory EH&S regulations.

Essential Job Functions
•         Predictive maintenance techniques are applied efficiently and effectively based on sound engineering analysis.
  • Prioritized to focus efforts on the largest/most critical opportunities.
•         Preventative maintenance techniques are applied based on sound engineering analysis including impact of failure, mean time between failures and other appropriate criteria.
•         Failures are thoroughly investigated through root cause analysis and that cost effective means to avoid future failures are identified and implemented.
•         Track the production losses and abnormally high maintenance cost assets, then find ways to reduce those losses or high costs to ensure significant, sustainable improvement.
•         Develop Root Cause Analysis (in full partnership with the operations team) and identifying triggers that institute a RCA.  
•         Measuring and reporting performance indicators.
•         Driving Criticality Analysis for the facility.
•         Developing and Optimizing PMs and PdM process.
•         Providing / coordinating technical support for the Maintenance supervision on significant Reliability issues.
•         Working on Continuous Improvement Process (CIP), and participating in Change Management evaluations.
•         Participating in Annual maintenance budget preparation.
•         Use tools and techniques to identify and reduce risks:
•         PHA – Preliminary hazards analysis
•         FMEA – Failure modes and effects analysis
•         CA – Criticality analysis
•         FTA – Fault tree analysis
•         ETA – Event tree analysis.


  • Bachelors degree in an Engineering discipline from an accredited institution.
  • 3 years work experience in an industrial environment.
  • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status.  ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder')
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States.  Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire.  Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering preferred.
  • Ability to collaborate with a cross functional team and employees at all levels of the organization. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Good oral and written communications skills.
