Job Description

Arconic, Inc. is currently in search of a Reliability Engineer to join our Global Rolled Products (GRP) Operations business unit in Davenport, IA.
 
Since it opened in 1948, Arconic’s Davenport, Iowa aluminum facility has been at the forefront of American manufacturing. Nestled on the banks of the Mississippi River in Iowa, the plant employs 2,400 people and is a focal point of the global aluminum industry, with 25 percent of revenues coming from exports. Through continued modernization, including a $300 million investment over the past decade alone, Davenport has maintained its position as the world’s premier aerospace supply plant and is today the hub of Arconic’s $3 billion aerospace business.

The objective of the Reliability Engineer is to lead problem solving efforts to increase reliability of production centers that support the plant wide production goals. The Reliability Engineer (RE) is the reliability steward for a production area who is responsible for driving continuous equipment reliability by providing / coordinating technical support and managing the reliability improvement processes for the area.
 
The Reliability Engineer is to be accountable for results in the areas of Environment, Health and Safety, Productivity, Asset Management, People Development, Cost Control and Quality using ABS systems such as TPM, Kaizen, daily Management, 5S etc. The Reliability Engineer will engage the resources at his/her disposal to meet the department objectives in support of the business objectives. These objectives will be achieved without sacrificing a spirit of cooperation with other areas.
  
In this position, the Reliability Engineer will be responsible for the: 
  • Development of equipment, system and location hierarchy
  • Performance of criticality analysis and determination of risk priority numbers for the site’s assets
  • Performance of RCM/FMEA on critical assets
  • Development of equipment maintenance plans
  • Coordination of the implementation of the reliability-based maintenance strategies
  • Definition of reliability-based queries and reports to support a continuous improvement process
  • Performance of RCA’s on contributors to yield, utilization and capacity losses (attributed to equipment, processes, etc.)
  • Identification and resolution of chronic failures
  • Calculation and optimization of asset life-cycle costs
  • Provision of support to site’s Business Interruption/Loss Prevention programs
  • Provision of support to site’s EHS programs


Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology from an accredited institution
  • Minimum 3 years of manufacturing experience
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience with the application of Six Sigma, 5S and/or Lean manufacturing principles in a manufacturing setting.
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position;
  • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
Preferred Qualifications: 
  • Master’s Degree in Business Administration, or Engineering from an accredited institution
  • Minimum 2 years of maintenance reliability experience
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with various personnel in a variety of settings (shop floor, peers, plant leadership, etc.)
