Job Description

This is an Afternoon Shift position (2:00 PM - 10:30 PM) Monday - Friday
  The refractory team member is responsible for performing all phases of building, bricking, lining, ramming and repairing of all melt equipment (vacuum and air) containing refractory linings and/or equipment.
  • Expected to assist in the implementation of EHS Values and policy statements and accompanying principals.
  • Comply with all department, facility, corporate and regulatory EHS regulations.
  • Wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Report all job related illness and injuries (Per Employee Handbook).
  • Report all safety, health and environmental concerns to your supervisor in a timely manner.
  • Attend all EHS training.
  • Set, operate, and monitor preheat torches to insure proper operation.
  • Maintain inventory of tapping blocks, furnaces, furnace and tundish materials.
  • Assemble tapping blocks with prescribed filter configuration in accordance with the melt schedule.
  • Work with the Melt Team and Production Planning to coordinate inventories and bricking requirements.
  • May be required to assist the Melt Team on furnace changes and or spout changes.
  • Knock out old refractory, and install new refractory in Vacuum coils.
  • Knock out old refractory, and install new refractory in AOD vessels.
  • Required to keep work area in a clean orderly condition

Must be able to read and understand digital and analog scales and gages and other measuring devices.
  • Equipment used includes refractory saws, cranes, curing torch, computers hand and pneumatic tools and forklifts
  • Large amounts of time spent in small spaces while performing job duties

  • No relocation benefit is offered for this position. Candidates residing within a 50 miles radius of Dover NJ will only be considered.
  • High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
