Arconic’s Davenport, Iowa aluminum facility is in search of a Raw Materials Coordinator.   Arconic is the world's leading producer and manager of primary aluminum, fabricated aluminum and alumina facilities, and is active in all major aspects of the industry. The Raw Materials Coordinator will be responsible for coordination of supply chain raw material daily management and problem-solving activities for prime, commercial metals, and purchased ingot as well as ingot supply to internal customers.  That includes: monitoring, tracking, and facilitating smooth execution of material receipts and sales, consignment aluminum and commercial metals management, problem solving and reporting on quality and weight discrepancies, assisting in daily SCM process management activities, assuring accurate inventory reporting, and tracking ingot supply status to internal customers.
Major Responsibilities:
  • Monitor the status of incoming/outgoing materials including entering receipts into processing/tracking systems and reporting supplier delivery performance;
  • Tactical management of consignment aluminum inventory including initiating, tracking, and reporting consumption of this material;
  • Manage Commercial Metals pull system and replenishment to ensure adequate supplies are available for casting including generation of releases in the Oracle procurement system;
  • Work with accounting and operating to report and resolve paper work and supplier/buyer weight and quality discrepancies;
  • Improve systems for tracking supplier shipments, purchases, and receipts for SCM inventory analysis;
  • Process purchased RSI analysis approvals and enter approved RSI loads in the charge calculation system upon receipt;
  • Assist with rail and truck scheduling issues and work to ensure even flow/on time deliveries of raw materials;
  • Track ingot casting metrics linked to schedule adherence as part of the downstream customer connection;
  • Assist in ensuring accuracy of physical inventory including taking part in interim ingot plant physical inventories;
  • Prepare and post data required for the Raw Materials Daily Management meeting between ingot supply chain and ingot operating groups;
  • Act as first level help chain and problem solver, elevating issues as necessary;
  • Assist with daily/weekly/monthly meetings as required with reporting, data analysis, report outs, and presentation development;
  • Responsible for coordinating delivery of raw materials to the facility, including being the main contact point for transportation of materials onto plant-site, maintaining and correcting paperwork for material being delivered, and tracking delivery performance on materials;
  • Responsible for prime material inventory management, both Arconic owned and through consignment, including coordinating the supply chain aspects of monthly consignment inventories, managing pulls from consignment, coordinating supplier audits, and maintaining accurate orders and forecasts for all prime requirements in the Ingot plant;
  • Coordinate all prime/slab receipts within the MES system, and problem solve and develop process improvements to prevent recurring issues and correct any issues as they occur
  • Coordinate proper railcar movement for raw materials through Davenport site, supporting prompt unloading of railcars and releasing of cars to minimize demurrage costs associated with stagnant cars;
  • Support Ingot plant scheduling as back-up to Casting Flow Leader for Davenport cast schedule development and maintenance; 
  • Coordinate with other SCM and production groups to manage ingot pad inventory, assuring all material on ingot pad is accurately recorded and available to hotline operations as needed to support rolling schedules;
  • Develop processes and improve as necessary to reduce or eliminate NA (not available) ingot at hot rolling.


Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution;
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position;
  • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management or Industrial Engineering from an accredited institution;
  • 2 years manufacturing experience;
  • 2 years supply chain experience;
  • Project management experience.
