Arconic (NYSE: ARNC) is looking for a Technical Manager to join our Global Rolled Products (GRP) business unit in Davenport, IA.

Under direction of the Arconic Davenport Works Quality Assurance Manager, the Technical Manager is accountable for:
  • The management of the Metallurgical Engineering department which includes recruitment, training, development and motivation of personnel.
  • The establishment of Metallurgical standard practices and controls, including auditing and surveillance to insure compliance to government regulations, company policies and quality assurance standards.
  • The establishment and maintenance of Metallurgical quality standards relative to product and customer requirements.
  • The coordination of appropriate ATC, marketing and plant efforts in implementation of R&D technology and promotion of new and existing products.
  • Establishing product quality levels required.
  • Establishing standard practices to meet product requirements.
  • Assign and monitor development projects for improving both product and process or reducing costs.
  • Provide for quality documentation to meet quality system requirements of AS9100, ISO9001 and IATF16949.
  • Provide input and set direction for the Davenport quality systems. This includes internal quality audits as well as external customer credits and certification efforts as required.
  • Provide resource and input to customer and government specification review to assure compliance to their requirements.
  • Develop and manage product control plans.
  • Select, train, develop and motivate Metallurgical personnel to result in an efficient professional organization in order to maintain technological superiority of Davenport Works.
  • Interface with customers on a proactive and reactive basis as required.
  • Efficiently manage the Metallurgical department budget.


Qualifications

Basic Requirements:
  • Bachelor degree in Metallurgical Engineering or Materials Science from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience with product and process metallurgical engineering.
  • Minimum of 3 years of leadership/supervisory experience.
 
Preferred Requirements:
  • Master degree in Materials Science, Metallurgical Engineer, or MBA.
  • Metallurgical experience with Aluminum products/processes.
  • Experience in heavy manufacturing.
