Arconic is currently in search of a Quality Systems Engineer to join our Global Rolled Products (GRP) Operations business unit in Davenport, IA.

Since it opened in 1948, Arconic's Davenport, Iowa aluminum facility has been at the forefront of American manufacturing. Nestled on the banks of the Mississippi River in Iowa, the plant employs 2,400 people and is a focal point of the global aluminum industry. Through continued modernization, including a $300 million investment over the past decade alone, Davenport has maintained its position as the world’s premier aerospace supply plant and is today the hub of Alcoa’s $3 billion aerospace business.

The Quality Systems Engineer reports directly to the Quality Management Systems Lead, and is responsible for designing, managing, maintaining, and continuously improving Davenport’s Quality Systems to ensure that the business processes and products satisfy customer requirements and quality standards.


Responsibilities:
  • Assist in development and implementation of a Quality strategy and the Quality goals and objectives required to support the business
  • Understand Davenport Works Quality Management System, including the electronic system and information flow that support this overall system.
  • Identify and remove the quality barriers to manufacturing and supplier performance excellence
  • Partner with Operations, Procurement, Engineering, and other departments to ensure training competencies, resolve technical issues, and implement corrective and preventive actions as necessary
  • Reaffirm existing systems, or create and implement new systems designed to produce high-quality products and processes
  • Establish/maintain key performance indicators and systems for tracking, reporting and improving performance
  • Provide support for customers on quality systems-related issues, and for external and internal auditors as necessary; participate in internal audit program
  • Develop the capabilities of those in the location through teaching, coaching, establishing high standards, and ensuring accountability
  • Responsible for successful development and deployment of quality systems to support certification to TS 16949 while ensuring that all current certifications are retained (AS9100 Rev C/ISO9001 and customer certifications).
  • Areas of responsibility include quality systems, customer complaints as necessary, gage control, supplier development, PPAP’s, FMEA’s etc.
  • Interpret and implement technical requirements


Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Minimum of 1-year experience in TS 16949 and ISO or AS9100 quality system requirements
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Advanced degree
  • Customer interface experience
  • Previous experience in TS 16949 Implementation and certification
  • NADCAP is a plus
  • ASQ, CQA, CQE and/or CQM desirable
  • This position requires a strong understanding of statistical concepts and related computer software
  • In-depth working knowledge of quality documents such as Gage R&R, PPAP’s, FMEA’s, Control Charts, Control Plans, SPC related reports and calculations, etc.
  • Internal Quality Systems Auditing experience
