Job Description

Job Summary
Position is responsible for the quality of parts from purchase order to shipping at Winsted’s operations.  Tasks as required, are performed to warrant the processing of parts to customers purchase orders, specifications and engineering drawings.
Essential Functions
Develops and initiates standards and methods for inspection, testing and evaluation.
Communicates customer purchase order information to supply chain internally and externally.
Review and submit quality plans and process approval packages for fixed processes to customer
Develops and implements methods and procedures for disposition of discrepant material and devises methods to assess cost and responsibility.
Guides workers engaged in measuring, inspecting and testing product and tabulating data concerning materials, products, or process quality and reliability.
Prepare process approval requests and prepare first article data and characteristic accountability including  PPAP, FMEA, quality plans as directed by customers.
Interface with customers and suppliers on specifications, problems and deviate material. Take part in NADCAP and OEM  AS9100Rev D certifications Prep and audits.
Response to customer corrective actions as required and issues corrective actions to suppliers as needed.



Job Responsibilities


Perform various audit functions.


Release parts to be shipped in compliance with customer’s requirements.  Certifies parts for shipment to customer.  Achieves customer-mandated qualifications, such as DSQR, if required.


Reviews customer purchase orders and specifications and drawings.


Support shop floor manufacturing cells as required.


Responsible for area records and procedures for ISO 9001: 2015 and AS9100 Rev D.


Reviews internal work instructions.


Audits parts to assure conformance to customer specifications and requirements prior to shipment.


Actively participate, promote and comply with all EHS programs and policies.


May act as custodian for MRB and issues applicable reports.


Performs  other duties as assigned.



Job Specifications
  1. Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality Management
  1. Skills and Abilities:
Demonstrated requisite skills and abilities are in the following:  read and interpret engineering drawings, math, basic computer operation, effective oral, written and telephone communications, SPC, interpersonal analytical analysis, total quality principles, work effectively and function in a team environment and knowledge of ISO and NADCAP requirements.
Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Ability to compile statistical data packages with use of mini tab software and interpret results to customer requirements for submittal.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.  Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  1. Experience:
This position requires a minimum of 5 years of general quality experience with a minimum of 3 years experience in coating, machining, manufacturing, quality assurance systems or quality engineering.
  This position must be willing to travel on occasion.
