Arconic Engineered Structures (AES) is seeking a Quality Engineer to support Quality initiatives at our Whitehall, MI facility.  This individual will be covering our Ti-Ingot and Ti-Cast operations. Profile: The primary purpose of this role is to partner across functions and ensure that product is meeting or surpassing the quality standards within the customer specifications by resolving any arising related issues.  The primary objective of the Quality Engineer is to create procedures and processes and collaborate with team members to support the administration of quality systems and audits, quality manuals, and quality continuous improvement initiatives including root cause analysis and preventative/correction action implementation.  The successful candidate will have experience establishing and testing parameters and the ability to design and implement control systems for quality assurance. 
Essential Functions: The Quality Engineer position within AES includes execution of Quality initiatives, examples include but are not limited to:
  • Monitoring and reviewing information from materials, events, or the environment, to detect or assess problems.
  • Interpret research or operational data.
  • Review purchase orders and specifications.
  • Evaluate quality of materials or products.
  • Monitor operational procedures in technical environments to ensure conformance to standards.
  • Develop collaborative relationships between departments or with external organizations.
  • Train personnel in Quality initiatives as required.
  • Partner with engineering and refine designs, using working models, to conform with customer specifications, production limitations, or changes in design trends.
  • Develop and monitor procedures in conformance with Quality and Industry Standards as required.
  • Communicate with management and user personnel to develop production and design standards.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum 5 years Quality Systems experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulation (ITAR), which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. Green Card Holder), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution in the following disciplines preferred: Quality, Engineering, Material Science or Metallurgy.
  • Certification as CQE, ASQ and or CQE preferred
  • 3+ years’ experience working in aerospace manufacturing in a quality engineer or quality assurance role
  • Working knowledge of quality systems and requirements and how they relate to business (i.e. AS9100, ISO9001, or NADCAP).
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Root Cause and Corrective Action analysis and suiting methodology.
