Job Description

SUMMARY
The Production Planner is responsible for actively managing production schedules and work in progress in support of an overall Manufacturing plan or a define portfolio (i.e. OEM, Product Family, etc). Partner with Master scheduler, individual departments and operations leadership to ensure dynamic plans are developed to achieve financial metrics and customer delivery.
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Duties and responsibilities include the following; other duties may be required and assigned at any time.
 
Liaison with sales division to determine customer requirements
Analyze anticipated business forecast for the assignment of customer due dates
Assign and communicate accurate commit dates in accordance to the master schedule
Update and maintain accurate planning information in the MRP system
Continues analysis of stock levels and work in process
Work with purchasing to minimize material and component shortages
Liaison with customer service; resolve customer service issues with follow-up, expedited orders, past dues. (i.e. LOB)
Work with team to update and maintain system lead times in accordance to Contracts and actual cycle times
Interface with Purchasing, Engineering, Sales and Shop personnel
Monitors work order progress ensuring schedule attainment
Troubleshoots problems cross functionally that occur during production, including staff shortages and machinery malfunctions
Collects and assesses data about the production and team’s performance, (i.e. On time release (Late Start), and On Time delivery for assigned accounts
Prepares reports about production processes for upper management and suggests ways to improve efficiency

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
A minimum of one year related experience and/or training. A minimum of one year of planning/scheduling experience.
 
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
 
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and percentages.  Ability to apply concepts of basic mathematics.
 
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
 
COMPUTER SKILLS
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Advanced knowledge of ERP systems (Visual Manufacturing)
Working knowledge of Material Requirements Planning (MRP)
