Arconic Fastening Systems is looking for a Production Planner who is responsible for planning, requisitioning, and the success of the assigned product line. The incumbent will translate sales orders and forecasts into attainable production plans consistent with specified company operational and financial goals.

Production Planner I Essential Functions:
Responsible for planning and implementing the production schedule for the various product lines.  Coordinate multiple activities to assure on-time delivery, production and inventory goals are met.  Maintain a minimum of inventory to support the production schedules.  Team with the Manufacturing Supervisor, Production Leaders and support personnel to assure that AFS-Carson customer needs are met. The Planner develops, analyzes and adjusts material capacity plans in coordination with productions schedules.  The plans are to be consistent with business objectives while maximizing customer service and minimizing inventory investment.
Specific Responsibilities Include:
  • Coordinate all raw material replenishments, monitor and manage capacity requirements and work closely with sales and marketing to develop a plan that best services our customers.
  • Direct planners in the scheduling/planning of production to meet customer quality and on-time delivery needs
  • Supervise planners in the areas of personnel actions in compliance with company policies.
  • Interface with other departments (Shipping, Processing, Engineering, Quality) to resolve problems with timely delivery or disposition of rejection notices
  • Facilitate continual improvement.  Take initiative to resolve planning issues without supervision’s direction.  Willingly participate with production teams to resolve production and planning issues
  • Perform other tasks as needed in support of manufacturing operations, customers and suppliers
  • Develops, communicates and monitors performance to the unit production goals to provide the basis for key operational decisions
  • Monitors stocking performance of inventory items to ensure optimum service levels for both
  • Provides customer service with accurate estimations of booked capacity to allow accurate quoting of customer lead-times
  • Responsible for maintaining planning parameters of material.
  • Reconciles confliction objectives in the Master Planner Systems in order to insure customer service, acceptable inventory levels, and maximizes production efficiency.
  • Monitor and reports performance to Master Planner in order to eliminate variances.
  • Assist Sales Department in developing Customer Order Promising to support achievement of sales objectives
  • Provide input to management, Production and Engineering to reschedule in case of design changes, labor and material shortages, backlogs and other potential schedule interruptions
  • Insures that the demand input is in balance with capacity in order to provide an achievable Master Planner
  • Work in a safe manner that promotes the health and well-being of the individual and the environment
    • Comply with all EHS rules and regulations and supervisory instructions.
    • Report all incidents including injuries, spills, fires, property damage, and near misses to their supervisor



Education and Experience:
  • Pursuing Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Operations Management or similar background
  • Graduating in Winter 2018 or Spring/Summer 2019
  • APICS Certification preferred
  • 5 years directly related work experience in a complex manufacturing work environment (precision metal removal or metal forming manufacturing) preferred
  • Knowledge of production planning, inventory management, JIT concepts and MRP preferred
  • APICS certified as well as ERP and Demand Flow experience preferred
  • Hands on experience with business forecast and master production scheduling
  • Must be familiar with a variety of manufacturing processes
Required Skills:
  • Must have a “can do”/do it now” mentality and the ability to overcome technical/non-technical obstacles
  • Requires high energy and focused planning and organizing skills
  • Hands-on detailed knowledge of MRP; able to train an educate others about manufacturing systems
  • Strong leadership and communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent computer skills including knowledge of Windows, Excel, Word and Access
