Job Description

This role is located at the Arconic Technology Center, the world’s largest light metals research center. ATC commercial successes include the breakthrough Arconic 951™ adhesive bonding technology that is enabling the automotive industry’s historic shift to aluminum intensive vehicles such as the Ford F150. And we’re leading the way in cutting-edge 3D printing technology with proprietary metal powders optimized for 3D printed aerospace parts.
 
The Product Designer is responsible for design ideas and concepts through the development of high quality CAD models and takes into account the design core (specifications, concept design, detail design, manufacturing).
 
Major Activities / Key Challenges:
• Provide design development support for conceptualization, design, product development, verification and validation of new product designs to satisfy customer, government, legal and internal requirements.
• Propose and develop solutions to problems that arise during product and/or process design, development, and prototyping.
• Adept at how to apply basic structural and engineering design principles in solving problems.
• Develop, recommend and implement innovative solutions to engineering problems.
• Make recommendations on identified problems outside of own project
• Find best practices and benchmarks that may be applied to project.
• Sphere of Influence within the Arconic Technology Center and Arconic business units.

Essential Knowledge & Skills / Education:

• Knowledge and experience using Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint
• Willing to accept new, challenging jobs and demonstrate the ability to maintain a good learning attitude
• Strong verbal and interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact and work with people from a wide range of technical & cultural disciplines and backgrounds (i.e. strong team player)
• Ability to clearly communicate one's own work to project team members, project leads, and customers

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
 
• Associate’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Design, or Specialized Technology from an accredited institution.
• Minimum of 5 years’ product or process design experience.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience using Siemens NX and/or Solidworks CAD software
• Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
• This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status.  ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee. 
 
Preferred Qualifications:
 
• BS degree in Mechanical Engineering, Design, or Specialized Technology with a certificate in CAD/Drafting from an accredited institution
• 5 years’ experience using Siemens NX and/or Solidworks CAD software
• 3 years’ experience developing engineering drawings, including practice of implementing geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
