Job Description

Arconic is looking for Business Unit (BU) Procurement Operations Support to report to the Plant Procurement Lead and supports the Rochester Plant Procurement Team, Category Management Team and BU Procurement Engineers on relevant Procurement activities, measures and operational activities in the execution of procurement strategies. The overall goal is the best possible support of the BU Plant Procurement team to achieve the best cost position of the respective Business Unit plant. He/she supports the optimal collaboration of BU Plant Procurement with BU Procurement Engineering as well as with Global Category Management and Regional Procurement to achieve best procurement results.

Performance areas: Cost Savings (SRT), Supplier performance, challenging of material & service specifications (demand management)


Key Activities:
  • Assists on benchmarking efforts, should-be-cost analyses and business cases
  • Supports the BU Plant Procurement Lead in planning and monitoring
  • Creates, develops and accounts for tools and templates to simplify and streamline efficient communication between team members as well as efficient execution on all procurement-related tasks
  • Supports internal and external communication on procurement tasks and goals
  • Serves as help desk and support function on high yield procurement activities, e.g. supplier summits
  • Communicates with suppliers on operational topics and supports negotiations and RfQs/RfPs in close alignment with the BU Strategic Buyers and the Procurement Engineering (thresholds for responsibilities defined in PE process description)
  • Participates in supplier meetings as needed
  • Additional Plant Specific Activity:
  • Daily Processing of MRO Requisitions and Purchase Orders (~300/month)
  • Management of open Purchase Orders and supplier delivery
  • Develops and leads on cost savings initiatives as needed
  • Assist in monthly Self-Assessments (ASP) to ensure compliance with Procurement & Plant Policies
  • Works in close collaboration daily with Facilities & Maintenance, Health & Safety, Operations, and Finance teams


Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Business, Management, Supply Chain, Logistics, Information Technology (IT), Politics, Policy, Finance/Accounting, Data Science/Analytics, Marketing/Communications, Mathematics or Engineering.
  • Minimum of 2 years' previous work experience in purchasing management.
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of procurement processes, especially purchase-to-pay (operational)
  • Technical understanding preferred
  • Proficiency in data-mining and software applications
  • Communication and negotiation skills
  • Customer-oriented
  • Prior Experience with MRO Procurement in a manufacturing setting
  • Strong Organizational skills
  • Strong Analytical Skills
