Arconic Fastening Systems is looking for a Processing and Heat Treat Manager to oversee the plating process, wastewater, Chem Lab and Heat Treat to meet customer production requirements. This position is located at our aerospace manufacturing plant in Tucson, AZ.

Essential Functions:
 
This position effectively directs the day to day activities of our heat treat and plating operation at our Tucson facility to meet production, quality, safety and continuous improvement goals.  Reporting directly to the Director of Operations, the position will set strategic direction in the applicable areas and make recommendations to improve the operations and efficiency.  While maintaining a customer focus on quality and on-time delivery. 
 
Key Responsibilities: 
  • Effectively manage hourly workers, including hiring, training, employee development and performance goals.
  • Direct oversight of processing, wastewater, lab and heat treat.
  • Partner with quality and engineering and other team members to resolve heat treat and processing problems to determine root cause and recommend/implement solutions.
  • Responsible to provide forecasting Heat Treat and Processing labor requirements and makes equipment or layout changes.
  • Evaluates and recommends new technology, equipment, products and or processes for the heat treat and plating area. 
  • Meets daily with management and supervisor to establish overall work area goals and performance and identifies and communicates the daily workflow.
  • Is considered an expert and resource for projects and processes in the applicable areas.
  • Provides technical guidance for area of management.
  • For metals processing, this position will be responsible for Troubleshoot plating issues, schedule cleanouts, repairs, etc.  Coordinate production load balance between plating and wastewater. Evaluate new/alternate chemicals.  Schedule internal audit
  • In wastewater treatment you will identify and characterize water discharge. Manage offsite disposal of wastewater. Work with local POTW to schedule discharge, sampling, and inspections. Review wastewater inspection reports and analysis reports for discrepancies
  • In the Chemical Lab you will oversee all analytical reports, including, plating tank analyses, salt spray analyses, Certificates of Conformance, etc., and troubleshoot lab analyses problems
  • For Heat Treat the position reviews analytical reports, troubleshoot furnace issues and prepares for and execute NAPCAP Audits.
  • Responsible for the development of training, including content for monthly meetings. Work with the EHS manager on scheduling required employee training. (LOTO, Fall Protection, Mobile Equipment)
  • Manage applicable contractor and vendors as needed.
  • Lead/participate in both internal and external audits


Qualifications

 
Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering from an accredited institution. 
  • Minimum 7 years’ processing experience in aerospace or other regulated industry.   
  • Minimum 4 years of supervisory/management experience.
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States.  Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire.  Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status.  ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Masters’ degree and multi-department experience preferred.
  • Experience with National Aerospace and Defense Contractors Accreditation Program (NADCAP)
  • Work experience in a complex high-volume manufacturing work environment (precision metal removal or metal forming manufacturing preferred)
  • Experience with Quality Management Systems
  • Experience with ISO 9001 & 14001
