Arconic is currently seeking a Process Improvement Specialist to support the Rolling Department to join our Global Rolled Products (GRP) Operations business unit in Davenport, IA.

The Process Improvement Specialist will be responsible (but not limited to) for the following:
  • Accountable for area process changes to ensure that product quality is maintained, manage and control risks to safety and process integrity; communicate process changes to affected personnel outside of the production area
  • Lead Kaizens throughout department
  • Lead problem solving for the Rolling Department as it relates to production, technical, maintenance and/or quality issues
  • Assist with traceability gaps and identifying process improvements
  • Have a full understanding of production centers machinery and equipment within the department
  • Monitor, track and report key reliability and machine efficiency metrics to identify optimal levels and opportunities for equipment and process improvements
  • Own projects as it relates process improvement opportunities in the department
  • Develop complex strategies to resolve frequent and infrequent issues with production centers.
  • Lead development of corrective actions and problem-solving issues related to reliability and machine efficiency; attend all meetings to support these actions
  • Provide sound recommendations for long-term improvement of process by remaining up to date with Best Practices and lead certification efforts for area. 
  • Responsible for ensuring appropriate content of related SOP’s for the area
  • Lead core cross-functional project team to assist in managing projects
  • Work with the Center of Excellence group on companywide initiatives
  • Collaborate with other inter/intra departmental resources to coordinate plans related to outages/engineering changes
  • Work with Quality to identify key equipment gaps and opportunities; while working with cross-functional teams and support staff (such as:  new product development and new process launches) 
  • Perform and compile analytical reports to support changes needed within department
  • Directly work with engineers to design, develop, implement projects
  • Coach and mentor new Lead Operators and Manufacturing Team Coaches through daily tactical issues, and on-boarding and training, advise on Arconic practices and policies to include attendance, discipline, safety, and teams
  • Coach and support the team with all safety, quality and production improvements
  • Ensure team members are completing appropriate pre-job briefs
  • Lead weekly discussions with Supply Chain Management (SCM) to plan the week and any maintenance activities
  • Coordinate with downstream customers, as needed, to ensure internal quality contracts and expectations are understood and met and maintaining Work-In-Process (WIP) levels
  • Monitor and capture all process improvement activities and input in for savings in the “Degrees of Implementation” (DI)  System
  • Implement Arconic Business Systems (ABS) principles (Lean Manufacturing)
  • Act in an Area Manager capacity, handling all duties while Area Manager is away


Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:


 
Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution
  • 3 or more years supervisor experience in a manufacturing environment with expertise in providing guidance and insight to production issues
  • Minimum of 4 years of Rolling Mill experience (such as: steel, aluminum or paper)
