Arconic is currently in search of a Process Improvement Specialist to join our Global Rolled Products (GRP) operations business unit in Davenport, IA.

Since it opened in 1948, Arconic’s Davenport, Iowa aluminum facility has been at the forefront of American manufacturing. Nestled on the banks of the Mississippi River in Iowa, the plant employs 2,200 people and is a focal point of the global aluminum industry, with 25 percent of revenues coming from exports. Through continued modernization, including a $200 million investment over the past decade alone, Davenport has maintained its position as the world’s premier aerospace supply plant and is today the hub of Alcoa’s $3 billion aerospace business.

  • Lead in problem solving activities for production, technical, maintenance, or quality issues.
  • Monitor, track and report key machine efficiency metrics to identify key levels and opportunities for equipment and process improvements.
  • Own projects within the department; lead core cross-functional project team to assist in managing projects.
  • Develop complex strategies to resolve frequent and infrequent issues with production centers.
  • Lead the development of corrective actions and problem solving for issues related to machine efficiency.
  • Provide sound recommendations for long-term improvement of process by remaining up to date with Best Practices.
  • Collaborate with other inter/intra departmental resources to coordinate plans as it relates to outages/engineering changes.
  • Work with Quality to identify key equipment gaps and opportunities.
  • Assist with traceability gaps and identifying process improvements.
  • Coordinate with upstream suppliers as needed to ensure internal quality contracts and expectations are understood and met.
  • Responsible for ensuring appropriate content of related SOP’s for the area.
  • Generate work orders as needed for improvement efforts.
  • Monitor and capture all process improvement activities and input in for savings in the DI System.
  • Implement ABS principles and problems solving A3s.
  • Lead Kaizens throughout department.
  • Coach and mentor new Group Leaders through on-boarding and training, advise on Arconic practices and policies to include attendance, discipline, safety, and teams.
  • Act in an Area Manager capacity, handling all duties while Area Manager is away.
  • Actively drive and promote all safety related tools. Ensures team members are safe when working through process improvement opportunities and changes.
  • Accountable for area process changes to ensure product quality is maintained, managing and controlling risks to safety and process integrity. Communicates process changes to affected personnel outside of the production area.

Basic Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of 2 years manufacturing experience
  • Minimum of 2 years in a supervisory position
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
