The Process Improvement Specialist will lead in problem solving for the Rolling Department as it relates to production/technical/maintenance/quality issues.

Job Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Knowledge and understanding of production centers machinery and equipment within the department;
  • Monitor, track and report key reliability and machine efficiency metrics to identify key levels and opportunities for equipment and process improvements;
  • Responsible for owning projects as it relates to those opportunities in the department;
  • Develop complex strategies to resolve frequent and infrequent issues with production centers;
  • Lead the development of the corrective actions and problem solving for issues related to reliability and machine efficiency. Attend all meetings to support these actions;
  • Provide sound recommendations for long-term improvement of process by remaining up to date with Best Practices;
  • Responsible for identifying process deficiencies and driving improvements;
  • Lead core cross-functional project team to assist in managing projects;
  • Work with the Center of Excellence group of companywide initiatives;
  • Collaborate with other inter/intra departmental resources to coordinate plans as it relates to outages/engineering changes;
  • Work with Quality to identify key equipment gaps and opportunities;
  • Assist with traceability gaps and identifying process improvements;
  • Works with Quality to support new product and process launches throughout department;
  • Perform and compile analytical reports to support changes needed within department;
  • Directly interface with engineers to design, develop, implement projects;
  • Lead development of system to resolve issues with ingots that cannot be rolled when scheduled;
  • Lead certification efforts for Best Practices (HL steering, ML Leak reduction, etc.);
  • Manage daily tactical issues with direction to Team Coaches & Lead Operators;
  • Identify and implement process improvements while working with teams, and support staff;
  • Directly manage Team Coaches and Lead Operators daily to improve area and team performance;
  • Co-lead REX initiatives and systems development;
  • Lead weekly discussions with SCM to plan the rolling week and any maintenance activities;
  • Coordinate with downstream customers as needed to ensure internal quality contracts and expectations are understood and met;
  • Work across department and coordinate with downstream production centers/departments to support internal WIP levels;
  • Responsible for ensuring appropriate content of related SOP’s for the area;
  • Generate work requests as needed for improvement efforts;
  • Expertise in providing guidance and insight to production issues;
  • Monitor and capture all process improvement activities and input in for savings in the DI System.
  • Implement ABS principles and problems solving A3s;
  • Lead Kaizens throughout department;
  • Coach and mentor Team Coaches through on-boarding and training, advise on Arconic practices and policies to include attendance, discipline, safety, and teams;
  • Act in an Area Manager capacity, handling all duties while Area Manager is away;
  • Coach and support the team in safely producing the highest quality product in accordance with plant standards;
  • Coach in a team environment utilizing Alcoa Supervisory Excellence (ASE) principles and Human and Organizational Performance principles (HP);
  • Actively drives and promotes all safety related tools. Ensures team members are safe when working through process improvement opportunities and changes;
  • Ensure team members are completing appropriate pre-job briefs;
  • Provide process expertise to team and serve as a problem-solving resource;
  • Accountable for area process changes to ensure product quality is maintained, managing and controlling risks to safety and process integrity. Communicates process changes to affected personnel outside of the production area;
  • Understand and apply Arconic Engineering Standards;
  • Follows all policies, procedures, and EHS requirements;
  • Performs other duties as requested by management.


Basic Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution;
  • Minimum of 8 years manufacturing experience;
  • Minimum of 3 years in a supervisory position;
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position;
  • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution;
  • Actively pursuing Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of 3 years working in a semi-autonomous team structure;
  • Minimum of 4 years of Rolling experience.
