  • JOB SUMMARY

  • Responsible for maintaining the metallurgical integrity of products via continuous improvement activity, process design and development.  Flow down of customer requirements through shop instructions. Has nonconforming product disposition authority within the scope of this job description. Review product non-conformances as part of continuous improvement within the scope of this job description.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Job Functions
 
  • Routinely audit production lots for adherence to establish techniques verifying process control.
  • Actively participates in an extensive hands on shop floor training from beginning to end of process.
  • Create and evaluate casting experiments utilizing NDT and destructive testing methods to reduce labor and material costs, improve yields and develop new process techniques.
  • Issue technical reports on all evaluations and development activity.
  • Communicate/interface with all levels of management and manufacturing and establish both internal and external customer and supplier contacts.
  • Utilize basic engineering skills to approach problems analytically and derive sound conclusions.
  • Audits rejects to insure accuracy of inspection and to determine root cause.
  • Observes process experiments relating to any manufacturing operation and records data.
  • Prepares samples and/or test material.
  • Assist in property and castability evaluations of new alloys and heats produced to other than normally accepted melt practice.
  • Assists in the inspection departments in the interpretation of X-ray, FPI, and grain indications and makes micro evaluations when necessary to verify the interpretations.
  • Assists the evaluation of new wax, crucible, core, and dipcoat materials.
  • Assist the Product Engineer in the development of core slipping techniques.
  • Design the gating to be cut into new die or indicating the areas where it may be necessary to gate so that these areas can be considered when the wax die is designed.
  • Review customer blueprints for detail involving alloy, non-destructive testing and other process related information.
  • Develops a metallurgically sound process via the use of DOE/Taguchi and statistical methods for each part, issues and updates appropriate waxing, dipping, foundry service, and casting process instructions.
  • Review daily and weekly reject reports and initiates program to reduce rejects and rework.  Have part ownership and participate in cross-functional plant cost reduction initiatives.
  • Compile and submit process approval data to customer and obtain customer approval.
  • Develop flow charts for process approvals or other assigned projects.
  • Responsible for the disposition of the MRB castings.
  • Perform other miscellaneous assignments or directed by supervision.


Qualifications

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution
  • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status.  ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder')
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States.  Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire.  Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
