Arconic Engines is seeking a Process Engineer, for our rings manufacturing plant in Fontana, CA. The Process Engineer supports the business through process control and improvement initiatives, assumes responsibility for the integrity of assigned process, supports cliental, creates process specific activity instructions as well as implements strategies to improve effectiveness.


The Process Engineer is responsible for Continuous Improvement manufacturing processes and SMART manufacturing initiatives in the Forge Shop. The significant deliverables are scrap and rework reduction, development of a data driven culture, operational cost reduction, and continuous improvement.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  This is not intended as a comprehensive list; it is intended to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities.   • Apply Continuous Improvement methodologies and tools to improvement projects and engineering efforts.  Conduct process development experiments.
  • Gather data and statistics for process analysis to improve process capability.  Where data is not available, implement methods to collect the data.
  • Implement metrics and measurements for critical and key process inputs/outputs.
  • Provide regular project progress and status reports.
  • Deliverables include improvement of First Pass Yield and achievement of cost reduction goals.  Also, must provide measurable results to eliminate waste and improve processes.    
  • Identify opportunities to implement new technologies
  • Gain and maintain the commitment and support of the process owners to achieve objectives and sustain gains.
  • Work closely with operations, metallurgical and tooling engineers to monitor and improve the efficiency, output and safety of the plant.
  • Perform root cause analysis investigations and implement permanent corrective actions for non-conformances.
  • Comply with all department, facility, corporate and regulatory Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) regulations as well as manage existing or new EHS program(s) across the business as assigned.
  • Expected to assist in the implementation of Arconic’s’ value and policy statement, accompanying its principles.
  • Effectively use writing and verbal skills to communicate processing concepts to customers, operating personnel, other company departments, technical staff and upper level management;
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution;
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in forging or manufacturing environment;
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position;
  • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Engineering from an accredited institution;
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in forging or manufacturing environment;
  • Certification in Lean and or Six Sigma are desirable;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite;
  • Familiar with ERP systems;
  • Minitab or equivalent;
  • Has the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variable in situations where standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
