Job Description:
The Process Engineer located in Cleveland, OH is responsible for all new job development, process improvements, interactions for technical issues, and day to day operations from a process engineering perspective.  This position will handle the maintenance of manufacturing procedures including Process Instructions and Forge Die related issues. Incumbent will develop technical engineering solutions to improve current manufacturing processes and develop new processes and product enhancements for the Cleveland Forge Plant and Machining sources. Providing leadership to drive continuous process improvements through the application of Smart Manufacturing tools, Six Sigma tools and Arconic Business System (ABS) tools.
 
This position is part of the Cleveland Forge organization. The operations include Forging, Heat Treatment and Machining of Aluminum Forgings. This position works closely with the manufacturing and production control organization to ensure that the Forgings are routed and manufactured according to Arconic’s product specifications. Wheel products are a highly challenging engineered product with significant product liability risk and a wide diversity of end use applications ranging from passenger cars to medium duty trucks. Technical Support and Product Development activities are carried out in both the Cleveland location and globally.
 
Major Activities and Key Challenges Include:
The principal challenge of this position is to develop manufacturing process solutions to improve AWTP’s current products and processes through Forging and Machining. This position works closely with Design Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Forging Machine Shops and Die Shops in establishing a viable process that maximizes the lowest cost solution by utilizing Smart Manufacturing to minimize process variation.
The incumbent’s challenges specifically include developing manufacturing-friendly process improvements and new processes.  Completing testing to prove the concept, developing a supporting business case, resolving technical issues, proving process robustness, startup of manufacturing processes, transferring technology and preparing process documentation.
The incumbent is expected to execute these challenges under the direction of the Process Engineering and Die Design Manager. Incumbent is expected to develop some of his/her own projects plans and execute them after review with his/her supervisor.
 
Due to the nature of this position, incumbent must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, managerial skills and the ability to work independently. To ensure success, the incumbent must also possess a high degree of people skills as he/she must motivate and influence others.


Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering
  • 3 years of experience working in a manufacturing environment
  • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status.  ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. ‘Green Card Holder’), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
